Worth the money 👍
Good headphones, great sound quality.

Really great until they stop working
There's a lot to love about these, but like others have reported, the right side drops out and the only solution is to ship them in for repairs. I even bought a hardshell case to carry them in so they wouldn't be subjected to abuse in my backpack, but the issue happened AGAIN. The first time around was only a couple of months after I bought them. The repair itself was in warranty, but not shipping costs. Now that it has happened again out of warranty, there's no way I'm paying to ship them in and get repaired. This is an unfortunate design flaw because the headset is otherwise fantastic. The mic is high quality (a primary reason I paid so much for Audio-Technica over other brands) and the fact that it can be detached when not in use is a great feature. Sound quality is great until the issue occurs, at which point overall volume drops and the right channel disappears almost completely.

Surprisingly grown-up sound in a no-nonsense package — but you’ll want to like wires
I’ve been using the Audio-Technica ATH-G1 for about three months now. I’m based in Florida and I’m on the road a lot for work, so I needed something that could pull double duty: gaming at night in hotel rooms, and calls during the day. I wasn’t looking for RGB or gimmicks. I just wanted good sound, a mic that doesn’t suck, and something that won’t fall apart in my backpack. After a couple hundred hours with these, here’s what actually matters. What I liked — the real positives Sound is legit. These are tuned more like Audio-Technica’s music headphones than a typical “gamer” headset. Bass is big and punchy without getting muddy, and details up top — footsteps, reload clicks, cymbals in music — actually cut through. I ran these on PS5, laptop, and even my phone with a dongle. The 45mm drivers get stupid loud without breaking up. If you care about audio more than virtual surround tricks, these deliver. Comfort for long sessions. The earpads are a mix of fabric and leatherette, so my ears don’t get swampy even in Florida humidity. They’re light, and I’ve worn them 4-5 hours straight on flights and in Discord calls with zero head-squeeze. Looks normal. Pull the boom mic off and they just look like regular headphones. I’ve used them in airport lounges and coffee shops and didn’t feel like “that guy.” That matters when you travel. Mic quality. Teammates said I sounded clear, no weird robotic artifacts. For work calls it’s a step up from most laptop mics. The boom is flexible and detaches, which is great when I’m just listening to podcasts. Built solid. Mostly metal and sturdy plastic. The cable is fixed, not detachable, but it feels thick and hasn’t kinked yet after living in my carry-on. What bugged me — the negatives It’s wired. Only wired. 3.5mm only. No USB, no wireless, no software EQ. If your phone or newer laptop ditched the headphone jack, you’re living the dongle life. For $150-$170 this feels barebones. No gaming features. Don’t expect surround modes, sidetone, or app tweaking. You get a physical volume wheel and a mic mute switch on the cable. That’s it. The mute switch is also labeled backwards on some units, which is annoying. Bass-heavy tuning isn’t for everyone. Audio-Technica usually goes flat, but these are definitely boosted down low. I like it for Apex and EDM, but if you want a dead-neutral sound for mixing, look elsewhere. Fixed cable is a risk. Most gaming headsets in this price range let you swap the cable when it fails. Here, if the cable dies, the whole thing is basically done. For someone who travels and coils/uncoils constantly, that makes me nervous. Practical uses I actually ran into Hotel-room gaming: PS5 + laptop setup. Plug and play, no drivers. The closed-back design blocks AC noise pretty well. Work calls: Clients could hear me fine, and the earpads don’t make my head sweat during 90-minute meetings. Plane/train listening: With the mic off, they’re just good headphones for music and movies. The soundstage isn’t huge, but separation is clean enough that I could pick out footsteps in PUBG and still enjoy Tchaikovsky later. Travel: They fold flat-ish and the mic detaches, so they fit in a laptop sleeve. Downside: no case included, so I toss them in a soft pouch. Value for money At $169 MSRP, they’re in an awkward spot. The audio and comfort punch above a lot of “gaming” brands. But you’re giving up wireless, software, and a detachable cable that cheaper headsets include. I grabbed mine on sale for $129 and at that price I’m happy. Full price? Only if sound quality is your #1 thing and you don’t care about features. Who should skip these If you want wireless, surround sound, or EQ profiles to mess with, keep looking. Also if you hate bass emphasis, these will be too fun. Who they’re good for Gamers who want “grown-up” audio without looking like a streamer, remote workers who need a solid mic, and people who travel and want one headset for everything. Bottom line for me: They sound great, feel great, and do the basics really well. They just don’t do more than the basics. I’m keeping them in my bag, but I baby the cable. My rating: 4 out of 5 stars. Knocking one star for the fixed cable and lack of features at this price. If Audio-Technica sold a version with a detachable cable, it’d be 4.5.

Amazing Audio Quality for the price
Easily the best audio in my house and hardly cost me any more than a basic pair. Dont sleep on these. They give you audio quality comparable to headphones 3 times the price. Theyre not "the best" or whatever and there are for sure better out there, but for the price point these cant be beat

Great sound but bad microphone.
The sound in the headset sounded great and felt really comfortable on my ears, but the mic was really bad.

excellent sound quality!
Audio-Technica always the top choices to me. My 1st Audio-Technica is for listening the music, and this is my 2nd Audio-Technica headset for wfh. I feel this gaming headset sound quality are pretty close to my 1st Audio-Technica headset. Excellent for music. The reason I don't give 5 stars to this gaming set that I try to listen the headphone testing CD, I can't really tell where is sound from. This is critical for Gamer, I thought.

Trash headset
Headset didn’t last long enough to justify the cost of a “premium” headset. I wouldn’t do business with this company again because once 30 days has passed they just tell you to deal with Amazon. Audio terrible for gaming purposes. I’ve gotten better quality from a headset priced less than $100.

Working nicely - Fungerar bra!
They work very good. One teeny tiny nit-pick on my end is that there's this noticeable high-pitchyness to the sound no matter what you play, the "S" sound is very prominent, if you may. The bass is there sort of, not as strong as my old headphones. Maybe this happens because I quickly switched to new headphones and takes some getting used to.
