Can someone give me the measures on the block? I really wouldnt like to have the block standing outside the cavity.

I know this is an old question, but I figured I'd help out the others who come along later with the same kinds of questions. You need to measure the string spacing on your trem first. It'll be either 2-1/16" or 2-3/16" from E to E. Once you know that, only THEN can you begin to search for a bridge replacement. Otherwise you'll get a bridge that won't line up to the holes in your guitar. Once you have the string spacing, then you can go to worrying about the depth of the block.

Will this be an upgrade for my squier vintage modified 70's? my guitar specs calls it the same thing, but is it better material or the same?

I have just fitted one to my Classic Vib 60's and it fits perfectly. In fact I tried it on Classic Vib 70's, it was a perfect fit too, so I have ordered another for that guitar too. The mounting screw holes align perfectly and the string spacing is the same
