Amana Tool - 47147 Carbide Tipped Laminate Trimmer with Euro Square Bearing 1/2 Dia x 19/6

Worked great for trimming laminate off of a door and a bunch of cabinet faces that we were resheeting. No word on the long term durability, but it was easy enough to use and didn't crack or chip the laminate at all. I barely even had to sand the edges after using it. Highly recommend for flat surface projects like doors!

I have been using this bit on plastic laminates that are high gloss or are very easily marred from the typical round metal bearing and so far this square/flat bearing made of teflon has been amazing. I havent had any issues with this bearing leaving scars on my finished products. I only wish i knew of these sooner because with the variety if laminates that i work with as a cabinet maker - exhibit builder i havevto work with many fragile laminates. There is nothing more frustrating than having to relaminate something due to a bearing seizing up and leaving marks on finished items. I have had great luck with Amana bits lasting and now with the teflon bit... I am going to be using these all the time.

The bearing left a line on the laminate. I discovered a burr on the bearing. Also: the bearing material is too friable. It began to self destruct (small bits would come off, giving the bearing edge a pitted surface). Finally, the entire bearing dropped off. I hardly used this bit at all. What's especially maddening is that I thought this was a step up in laminate trimming bits. Instead, it was, without a doubt, the worst router bit I have ever used.

The square headed roller thing just works so great, so much less build up of glue on the roller and it does not burn your laminate. I'd give it 6 out of 5 stars if I could! I bought two more!

I used this on a table router to trim 1/8 arcrylic overhang in a fish tank and was impressed with butter smooth action and the square design of the bearing mount was easy to ensure box was square to router bit

Used for .020" thick aluminum laminate, no backer. Here's what worked for me when trimming edges where bearing surface will ride on laminate you've already laid up: FIRST: try to fit with minimal overhang, like 1/4" maximum. Used a 3 wing Porter Cable bit for initial cutting, leaving protective film on show face for bearing to ride on. Expect hot shavings to fly forward, sticking to protective film, resulting in a bumpy ride for the router. SECOND: pull film out of the way, use gentle cleaner and light rubbing with plastic scraper to eliminate as much glue residue as possible THIRD: run this bit (Amana 47147) with square bearing against raw, unprotected finish face. TEST TEST TEST cut first, and err on the side of leaving a slight overhang- maybe .016". This bit really clears up the rough mess left by first router bit pass. FOURTH: high quality (sharp, clean) laminate file. Brush bright edge with 150 -180 grit sandpaper adhered to wood block. Yep - metal laminate is the worst, but if you reserve this bit for final cut and lube with silicone, it will stay clean and do a nice job, helping reduce the trouble it takes for getting a clean professional edge on aluminum laminate. Based on all the above, I trust this bit implicitly for regular P-lam, and give it top marks for fit finish and performance. Square bearing is a little weird, but serves it's purpose well, leaves no marks. As for the square edges wearing out, you can reduce this effect by not dwelling off registration surface too long. If you've done due diligence in test cuts and height setting, you can confidently push this bit into the cut quickly and avoid the buzz-saw sound of the square edges being worn down. I would buy this bit again.

Used once and failed on first trim!

Plastic end fell off after 5minutes

Does not trim properly the square Bering is Too small for the bit size .

The bearing ended up rounding and then it cut the laminate front edge. Didn't even last one kitchen
