Is the bag made durable...

I bought mine about 10 years ago. I still use it. Color has faded but it still awesome not weak or torn. Def worth the price. Still has at least another 10 years left prob more. By far my fav bag I ever bought

I'm planning on using this for school, will this be good for a grade 9 high schooler?

I love my messenger bag, use it almost every day. I tell everyone that it is the same bag that Jack Bauer uses. A ninth grader might like that. Otherwise, it would be quite useful for anyone. I altered it a bit by adding a strip of Velcro on the two pockets for security.

Strong enough for school books?

Yes. I carry many papers and books, plus other items.
