Fantastic Product
I couldn't be happier with this item. Received on time and product is absolutely great. I had to go back to youtube to see how to operate it but once you know how everything works, it is super easy. The blades are extremely sharp, they cut through everything really easy. It is well worth the price. After looking at several different mandolines, I decided to purchase this one because it looked like the best choice. I had a cheaper platic one in the past and it wasn't any good. I ended up throwing it in the garbage. If you are serious about your mandolin, this is the one to buy. You'll never need to buy another one. The only negative, if you can call that, is the hand guard. It is very safe to use but very limited on the size of the items to slice. I also purchased a butcher glove and that makes it easy and safe and limitless to what you can slice. I highly recommend this mandoline.

This is a good satisfying mandoline; we previously tried an inexpensive mandoline but got no satisfation there.
This device has a learning curve. Additionally, one could cut their fingers if not careful (not so different from a knife in that respect). None-the-less, it is sturdy and works just fine. If you are doing much prep work, the cleanup time is justified, especially as all the slices or whatever tend to be rather uniform, contrasted with the sliced vegetables that we cut with a knife. It actually cleans up without a lot of difficulty, although one could cut their fingers if not careful (not so different from a knife in that respect). It folds down nicely for storage. Blades come with plastic guards for storage. It seems to be made of a good grade of stainless steel. It is rather expensive for a device without an electrical cord, but I'm glad that we bought it.

Great Kitchen Tool for Those Willing to Learn How to Use it
Overall, I'm happy with this purchase but I agree with the reviewer who said that this isn't the mandoline for everyone. I rated it 4 stars because when it arrived the slicing blade wasn't particularly sharp. You ultimately need to get a good sharpening tool to keep the blade at its best. Also, to operate the the mandoline safely a good kevlar or steel mesh glove is a must. After much practice and persistence, I am only now getting to the point that I can consistently slice foods in the manner I prefer. For example, I've found that the technique I use to slice celery without tearing is different from slicing carrots or cucumbers. Slicing tomatoes requires yet another technique. Some folks say you can't reliably slice a tomato with a straight edge mandoline such as the Bron. This isn't true. To slice a tomato use your hand (with the glove) but instead of pushing the tomato directly onto the blade gently move it from side to side as if you're cutting it with a knife. If the tomato is firm and the mandoline blade is sharp, it will slice nicely.Replacement parts are readily available and the stainless steel construction with rubber pads on the legs make it sturdy and stable. All in all, this is a great tool if you are experienced or if you have the patience and persistence to learn to use it properly.

The perfect French fry cutter.
Stable platform, sharp blades, range of settings for thickness, and a track system for easily sliding the potato produces just the right fry.So much better than a 'press' which crushes and crumbles. In contrast, this is a cinch to clean, no nooks or crannies. Just run hot water to every part and shake off to dry. Also, has a small footprint and is very easy to store.Unlike other mandolines, this is so much more steady, allowing more force for consistent cuts. The higher inclined plane puts geometry on your side. Stainless steel through and through as a cutting instrument should be. And every setting is secured tight, without slippage during operation. Not at all complicated to use, even for a novice like me. Look at YouTube videos to start chopping. Absolutely wear protective gloves when you're not using the caddy. Yes, it can be sharpened with thin diamond files (again on YT).For French fries make sure you get the 38-blade version, which gives you 10 mm spacing for the width of the vertical cuts. Then open up the main blade to its max position, which gives you half inch thick horizontal slice. When cooked, this yields the standard size fry. But tasting 1000x better, bcz you made it, with the oil you choose. Also, unlike other reviewers, I found the metal caddy very efficient for delivering a hard potato. Yes, they could've made it slightly wider to utilize all of the blade (about 10% gets lost on each side). But the track allows sufficient force and control to cut through, like a guillotine. Medium potato fits fine, and an extra large can be halved to accommodate. Or just keep the top open and hold the potato and caddy together for the first couple of slices, and surprisingly even a large tater fits without carving. When you get the hang of it, you will find it takes minimal effort and more a gliding motion to make the cut.

Top quality mandoline
A very beautiful, sturdy, lifetime mandoline. Makes cooking a joy & not a task. I make liver lyonnaise, my liver hating family loves it! This makes slicing the potatoes so easy. Salads. Fresh carrots everything is fast & I'm not left w/ carpal tunnel from hand chopping. Fresh veggies are so easy w/ this mandoline & I'd never attempt julienne. W/o it. I now make my own coleslaw mix & can add other julienne vegies other than carrots (actually in addition to the carrots). I'm glad I went w/ a great product. I know it'll last a very long time & quality items produce quality results. I love this mandoline. I'll be searching for attachments now.

It works very well after you learn how to use it. Online videos help a lot. Also, you have to be VERY careful while using it.
