Leaves a liitle to be desired...
I was wondering why this product had such a deep discount from the MSRP, now I know why. This particular facing for this model of mouthpiece somehow just doesnt cut it. It's hard to blow, and no matter what adjustments you make to it, no matter how wet or dry the reed is, the result is still the same; not very good. The thing that surprizes me is that this same model mouthpiece with the facing of 128 is the exact opposite of this one, full-bodied and earthy; the 128 is actually one of the best mouthpieces I've played on my 1947 Conn 10M...go figure, huh?

I've played better mouthpieces for lower prices
I don't really know why Link made this mpc. It's not a cross between their hard rubber and Super Tone Master's. The bite plate is weird and doesn't feel right when playing. The sound seems muffled when it should be bright with it's baffle shape and metal composition. I tried different combination ligs and reeds but never really liked the sound. Ended up selling on eBay.

Thumbs down for now
I'm a professional player and mouthpiece refacer, so I was not afraid to buy a Link RG after reading a few very negative reviews about it, because I knew that I would be able to reface the thing (even though it's stainless steel which makes it physically very difficult to work on) if it didn't play to my satisfaction 'out of the box'. Well, mine was pretty much unplayable as received. Nice looking piece, good quality steel, but the facing curve was awful. Very resistant and stuffy response, dead tone quality. Fortunately I was able to get it to play the way I like, but only after putting a significant amount of work into it.The Otto Link RG has potential, but needs professional attention before going out to the public. Nice try, but not yet ready for prime time.
