I recently used this garden auger drill bit, and overall it has been a very helpful tool for planting flowers, bulbs, and small plants. It attaches easily to a standard drill, and once it starts spinning, it quickly digs clean, even holes in the soil. The biggest advantage of this tool is how much time and effort it saves. Instead of digging manually with a shovel or trowel, it allows you to make multiple holes in just a few minutes. This is especially useful when planting a large number of bulbs or working in garden beds. It really reduces strain on the back and hands. The 2-inch width and 14.6-inch length are suitable for most common planting needs. It goes deep enough for bulbs and small plants, and the spiral design helps pull soil out smoothly as it drills. I also like that it works with a regular 3/8” drill, so no special equipment is needed. In softer or slightly moist soil, it works very efficiently and creates clean planting holes. It’s also useful for tasks like mixing soil or fertilizer in small areas, making it more versatile than just a planting tool. However, it does have some limitations. In very hard, dry, or rocky soil, it can struggle or require more pressure, and you need to be careful not to force it too much to avoid strain on the drill. Fantastic product! I just got around to planting some small potted plants and bulbs in be ground and these augers worked perfectly. I have a Dewalt DCD 1007 drill which I used with the lever arm attached. The drill was in low speed and has an anti-kickback feature. That setup was good enough to make a roughly 6” diameter hole with the larger auger in hard packed, rocky earth. It did the task much faster than digging with a towel and was a lot more fun too! I saw no evidence of damage to the augers at all even though the drill was putting out a ton of torque to make the holes. One thing I didn’t realize is that you’re not limited to the diameter of the auger itself, you can move it around to make a larger hole certainly for the larger size auger. A couple disclaimers: I only used the augers once so far, and I have one of the best cordless drills on the market. If you don’t have a drill which is as powerful or lacks a lever arm, this might not be the product for you.

For a plant auger, this works exactly as described; the only surprise was that it is actually a 16" auger and a 16" extension, rather than a 32" auger. After looking back on the listing I finally found one place where the description was accurate, but none of the pictures or product specifications reflect this. That being said, mom is still happy with her new toy.

Drilled maybe 50 ten inch deep holes in moderately soft clay and the bit looks fine. The bit drilled well with no problem biting the soil, and it removed the clay from the hole without a problem. If the clay was dry and hard I would not expect the same results. The thick and uneven paint on the chucking flats did not allow the chuck jaws to fully seat which allowed the auger to loosen in the chuck. Had to tighten the chuck twice before the paint was forced out allowing the chuck jaws to fully seat on the steel shank. Should have scrapped of the excessive paint first. Have now ordered the longer version.

Bought this to drill in the sand at the beach to help secure the tent. Worked fantastic.

Great little tool! I use it to install my real estate signs. It works with a rock hard ground!! I keep it in my trunk along with my drill.

Per earlier review... hex shaft gets stripped causing the drill bit to slip out of the drill. The problem is worse with the 3.5 inch bit, where torque is greater.

Not practical to use with the high speed of a drill. Needs really loose soil

Needs to be attached to your drill; use battery-operated drill for large garden areas where.no plug is availsble. This can be a gardener's best friend for planting, daffodils, tulips and other spring bulbs. This auger makes digging the holes to plant bulbs literally "child's play".

I use it to loosen hard pack clay soil. Save me lots of digging with picks and hoe. You need 24” to drill standing up. The auger material is thick and I think it will last. I use a 20v portable drill without side handle. It does kickback when hitting rocks or bricks. But it stand up with about 230 sq feet of soil drilling. Just remember to tighten the chuck in the beginning as it does come loose after few spinning. But it has work fine since. A bit more pricey than other supplier but I need it promptly and it arrived next day. Super happy.
