Silly. Sugar defeats the purpose!!! Gynostemma is a well known supplement, which can be beneficial to those who have high blood sugar levels.Sugar was used in this product to create tea balls from the leaves. Just a bit of sugar, but it’s really unnecessary.Can certainly make tea from unrolled Gynostemma leaves, and add stevia if one desires sweetness.

I was desperate for loose Jiaogulan and Amazon was out of my favorite, so I bought this product. It's the right tea, but wrapped into hard balls, apparently with sugar water. The balls are too big for single cup tea as I make it, probably right for making a pot. But they are very hard to break up, and it's impossible to get rid of the sugar. So I won't buy again.

I am so thrilled with this product!!!
