It is what it is. Works well for the price. Easy to store.
Reviewing Adjustable Toast Slicer/ Cutting Guide for Homemade Bread, Plastic Bread Slicer Loaf... If you're a bread machine addict like I am but don't have the money to spend or don't want another hard-to-store piece of kitchen equipment, you may love this bread slicer as I do. Easy to assemble - 4 pieces snap or slide together. Easy-peasy. Its diminutive size makes it unusable for large loaves. For smaller to medium loaves you can cut the loaf in half & take it from there. For freshly baked, warm bread, use a serrated knife (carefully wipe the blade between slices). For cooled bread, I've found an electric knife works best. What I really like about this product is that it collapses easily & I can store it in a drawer. My kitchen was built in the 1920s so is small with limited storage space. It's a little flimsy so don't get too aggressive with it (but that also makes it easy to break down. Also, the price. Can't beat that with a stick! It's an easy-to-use/clean piece of bread-making equipment if you only need to cut small-ish loaves.

Lack of Quality, Flimsy Plastic Parts, Falls Apart
Very flimsy plastic, parts will not stay together. Looks good in pictures but comes in four pieces that need to be assembled but parts do not click together so they easily fall apart meaning the guides are no longer aligned. The design is much shorter than the average loaf of bread, only covers about half the loaf. To make this guide work you would need to glue the parts together. Do not recommend wasting money on this product.

Flimsy
I should've spent a little extra money and got the stainless steel bread guide slicer. This one is cheap. Cheap in quality and comes off the track at the least little pressure. Knife is easily taken off the guides as there isn't much to guide the knife bc of the cheap plastic material. I fear one day the plastic guides will break while slicing the bread. Until I purchase a better bread slicing guide I think I will glue down the bottoms of the slicer so it will stay in place and not come off the tracks every time I slice the bread. Another disadvantage is that the slicer is too short. It should be longer or have an expandable part to accomodate longer loafs of bread.

Worth the money
It's a little flimsy, but for the price I think it does a pretty good job

Perfect, excellent, works great.
You need to have this product to produce consistent slices of your homemade bread. Seems cheaply made but is made well enough to hold up for its intended purpose. Price was fair, shipping was quick and the item came well packaged. Thanks. AMR.

The guides are very flimsy, and the sides aren’t secure.
I returned this item. It wasn’t very sturdy. When you sliced your bread, the guides were flimsy, which made it difficult. Also, the sides don’t feel secure, when pressed in their slots. I was worried I would break one of the guides, if I pressed very hard, but it didn’t fit in the slot well anyway. I’ve had a bread cutting guide before, and it was much stronger and nicer than this. (It wasn’t a fancy one either!) I don’t think this guide would last very long. In addition, the description says “Adjustable…” Generally, adjustable guides have more than one width option for different types of bread, but this one only had one width, that I saw, so I’m not sure what it meant by “adjustable.” I didn’t have any instructions with mine, but the box doesn’t say “adjustable.” The only reason I gave it 2 stars is because it does have a nice, inexpensive (cheap 😉) price. It also becomes very compact, when taken apart for storage. As a possibility, you might glue the sides to the base, so they fit more securely, though the guides will still be flimsy. Therefore, carefully, slowly slice your bread, and it could work. However, there are better options available. 😉

Can't use with bread knife, guides are too flimsy
This is useless. You use a bread knife (with saw-like serrations) to cut your bread, right? The teeth on the knife will repeatedly catch the plastic "fence", shaking both the loaf and the slicer. As others mention, this is very flimsy. I only used it three times, but I'm sure it would have broken before I finished one loaf. If you plan to use a "normal" knife with a simple straight blade, it might be useful.

Easy to use and a great value
This is my third purchase of this item over about 4 years. It works well for me because it guides my knife to form equal slices of the bread loaf. I glue the sides into the base to keep them rigid. The plastic is soft enough so that my knife does cut into the base a little each time, then after many uses the cuts have taken their toll and I purchase another set. My customers are amazed that the slices are so consistent. It’s easy to clean and always ready for use. In my opinion, it’s a great value for the price.
