Long lasting
I've had a few of these .75 hp Goulds J7S pumps in 12 years. They run and run and run correctly as long as you have a perfect input connection with absolutely zero in-port leaks. As soon as you see any drips between your well head and the pump, promptly fix them or else the cavitation will kill the pump. Also, spend the extra 10 bucks for a pump controller switch that has a low pressure cutoff to prevent the pump from continuously running if a pipe bursts or some other plumbing issue happens that will burn out the pump by dry pumping itself to a plastic impeller melting death. A two piece coupler on the in and out ports allows you to re-tighten the pvc connectors without having to replumb the entire connection if there is a slight leak.

What amazing pumps.
Tried three different pumps over a four year period. All failed to some degree. Going on four years now with this pump and the performance is simply amazing. Bought a second as backup (just in case) as I used them for a residence overseas. Probably didn’t it, but for the peace of mind. Both are performing wonderfully.

Solved our problem
I know nothing about pumps, except my husband and the plumber were happy with the results. The Goulds-Jet pump was a resonable price and is working just the way it's supposed to. We have water!

Time will tell…
As stated before, Internet sales mean the warranty is null and void on this pump. But enough reading pretty much means that a warranty nowadays on a pump from whoever is as good as wet toilet paper. So… Had a Little Giant pump that lasted a whole 3 months. Extremely hard to prime. It did eventually work. Then… big electric bill, and not because of the well house heater. Pump overrunning. Then no water, and a few choice words in the middle of frigid winter. New bladder at the same time the pump was replaced with new poly pipe and foot valve. Not my first rodeo with a well system after 30 years of use. Decided to take a more, nuclear option on a pump. It does appear to be made in the US, and unused, but lack of shipping protection in the box. Also manufacturer box staple was missing…. Dented the end cap of the motor quite well. Pressure switch loose on the conduit stub. Came thru Amazon directly, so I’m not sure what happened before it got shipped and here. Appears to be undamaged otherwise but not a great first impression. Should be above freezing tomorrow so the true test of will it work will be tomorrow. At this time, seems to be a well made product, but whatever happened to the packaging knocks a $600 pump down a lot on the rating. Not being transit safe is another gamble that could play bad later with a cast housing but only time will tell. Update 2/21/2026: Installed today. Priming took less than a gallon. Instantly fired up, built pressure and filled bladder on first try. 30/50 seems to be set right on, and system pressure/flow is constant and excellent in the house. Would give a perfect 5 star if the packaging was fixed. Still had to fix the motor cover and was debating on returning when I saw the damage. If it fails within 5 years it goes back to a two star rating. The reason being is because the Wayne pump that started the entire system replacement (pump and bladder) lasted about 15 years before it was removed. It was technically still pumping, but the pressure bladder had become ruptured, a fitting had succumbed to a critical failure on the pressure side, the drop pipe upon later inspection was developing hairline cracks, and the foot valve was also half clogged along with check valve being rendered inoperable. In other words, the pump saw some abuse, and it was a case of “while we are here” kinda thing. The Little Giant pump that was installed at the time of the Wayne replacement lasted… 3 months, and it had problems at every moment in the process. Hard priming, stalling at 20 psi with no water flow, cavitation, leaky factory fittings. I’m not an expert on this but I would say the design of the pump itself is critical to shallow well operation and certain designs fare better with less than perfect environments. You can see a cross section of a few pumps here, the Goulds and the Little Giant/Red Lion. I won’t say anything but you be the judge.

Quite.
Quite! It’s installed in the pump room in my house and I can barely hear it. It’s quieter than our dishwasher. Easy to change from 240v to 120v.

DO NOT BUY ONLINE!
DO NOT BUY THIS ONLINE!!! There is no warranty for online sales. I had a contractor install my pump and when we turned it on, it would run for a few seconds then shut off. Checked electrical and the motor is bad, pulling high amps. Goulds/Xylem won't touch it since it came from an unauthorized dealer/online.
