OK.. probably dumb question here.. but does it heat and work well with heat shrinks after a soldering job?

Yes, I just did my foot lighting in my truck and I soldered the wires together and heat shrunk it to seal it up. It has a hi/low heat button, I just used the low heat.

can you stand it on its back?

Yes, the metal stand folds over and you can balance the gun on the stand and back. Imagine rotating the picture 90 degrees clockwise so the gun is pointed vertically.

Can anyone recommend a set of nozzles for this heat gun? I saw some on ebay but I'm not sure if they will fit.

Will this get hot enough to remove red loc tight

I would think it would loosen up red loctite. It gets extremely hot.
