If the Apple drive is a SATA drive, it is likely that it will. Otherwise, if it is PCIe, NVMe, or a proprietary interface, it will not.

You asked about a PCIe (aka NVMe) SSD. This will NOT work with that, even if the keying on the SSD means it will physically fit. There are currently no NVMe to USB adapters on the market anywhere.

Q: Why 2 USB cables? Do you need to use and connect both cables when using?

One is USB 3.x type A male, the other is USB 2.x type A male... USB 2.x can supply only 2.5 watts of power; USB 3.x can supply up to 4.5 watts of power @5 volts. if you have USB 3.x ports (with the blue 'tongue'), it should work using only the USB 3.x plug; If all you have are USB 2.x ports (no blue 'tongue'), plug in both cables to supply up to 5 watts of power to the card.

It works great for mSATA

The adapter comes sealed with cable (~20cm). USB cable could be used standalone to connect any SATA disk. The adapter works fine with mSATA. It gives me read/write speed in Windows 10 to 300 MBps. So far, I'm satisfied.However, for M.2 2230 (CL4-3D256-Q11 Dell 256GB); the contact does not fit.
