Why are these so expensive? Just wondering

I would like to know the true answer to this question as well. Only thing I can think of is that kids love them SO much, they decided to make them super expensive for what you're getting so as to make a huge profit margin. I mean, seriously? $1.20 PER TILE?? Seems ridiculous to me. The cheapest per unit alternative I've found is the 100 pc set by Playmags. Even that seems incredibly steep for me at $90... That's most of my budget for Xmas. It's a shame they make them so spendy.... So many more kids could be enjoying them. Any comment on this topic, Magna-Tiles reps?

what is the difference btwn magna-tiles and picasso tiles?

If you read Picasso tile reviews, they apparently lack the rivets that Magna-Tiles have and use glue instead. After reading the few 1 star reviews for both products (highly recommended to find out the common failure modes for any product), I'll probably stick with the Magna-Tiles. Also, based on those reviews, Magna-Tiles come in purple... in case that is important.

What is the apprpriate age for these?

All ages. My grandson is 4 and grandaughter is 6. They both love them and I have fun as well playing with tiles .I got the 100 piece for my grandsons birthday. My grandaughter is asking for a set for her birthday. I will be purchasing another set in March.

I saw something that said "beware of old outdated versions". Kindly please tell me what the difference is between old/new & how to tell? Thanks!!
