Should I use black of white to back this color?

I'd go black or maybe even a gray but not white

Looking to paint over silver paint with the translucent metalic, will it stick to it?

If both paints are from the Tamiya "PS" series, they will be 100% compatible. If you're mixing types of paint, or brands, you'll have to experiment to determine compatibility.

You'll need to seal and prime the wood first, but it will work.
