Q: How wide of a chair seat will this cover?

The seat portion is 15" wide with an additional 2" on each side to turn down on the side of the seat (not counting the tabs you see in the picture), so you could stretch it flat across a seat as wide as 19", but 15-16" would be more optimal in order to cover and protect the sides of the cushion.

Q: Does it just lay on top of the chair? or does it have buckles to secure it? could it be used on a suade chair with prince lionhart soft booster seat?

Yes it just lays on the chair, it has no buckles. My grand daughter no longer uses a booster seat, but she still seats on this cover on the seat.

Q: Can't you machine this?

Yes but the material is such that nothing sticks or stains. It wipes clean with damp clothe and a little soap if you want to. It's great

Q: Can you use this for the seat back, in addition to the seat itself?

I wouldn’t recommend it for the back. We bought slip covers for over the chair and this to put over the slip cover because it’s waterproof. The slip cover protected the edge and back of the seat.
