Good Entry Level Hole Punch
First, it should be understood that tools from Tandy are essentially for the entry level market whereby one can get started in leather work without a substantial investment. That said, even though tools from Tandy are NOT top of the line, their tools, for the most part, do the job. This rotary punch is a good entry level tool, but they will NOT last forever. I use my pair quite a bit and they will last about 4 to 5 years. One thing that I've found will extend the life of the tool quite a lot. The anvil is made from copper (I think). After using it for a while, you will notice that the anvil will develop a circular groove where the punch meets the anvil and will not produce a clean hole. Since the anvil is NOT replaceable, what I do is to cut the head off of a roofing nail and glue it to the anvil. You'll only have to do that once, because the nail is made of steel. The nail head is not that thick and it does not throw off the angle of the hole to any perceptible degree. At least, I've not been able to tell that it makes any difference. This will extend the life of the tool. Depending on the use, you may have to sharpen your hole punches more often since you are punching against steel rather than copper, but that is a small price to pay for a clean hole and not having to replace the tool.

Seems cheap after 1 use
After 5 holes punched with the smallest punch it split down the length of the punch tip. Will be returning.Update- Returned item and purchased again. same punch split after about a month. the rest of the tool seems well built, may be operator error

junk... not worth any money
the tip moves around due to too much play.. resulting in inaccurate hole positioning and hole angle. Just useless. I threw mine away after I used on my belt and messed it up...

Don't waste your time or money
I used this to punch maybe 20 holes through two layers of 4/5 oz veg tan leather, so not much at all. It worked great for that project, but the next time I went to use it (on a single layer of 4/5 oz chrome-tan leather), the handle collapsed in on itself. Luckily I bought this through a third party that allowed me to return it sans receipt and box.Long story short: Either get a higher quality rotary punch or get a set of individual mallet-driven punches.
