Quality product.

I had never bought a Mitutoyo product before. Now I'm impressed. The retail photo provided for this product is inaccurate by showing black plastic knobs instead of steel. Since I prefer steel, there's no complaint. The machining quality is great. Numbers are easy to read because they're stamped into the steel, and not etched like lower quality tools usually are.Mitutoyo also provided an excellent value with this tool, in addition to their renowned craftsmanship. I chose Mitutoyo over Starrett because quality was comparable, but price wasn't. Starrett cost a few dollars less, but also provided about half as many leaves. The tool came out of the box sealed in a plastic pouch and was coated in a thin layer of oil.

You pick up a screw on the floor and wonder, "What kind of screw is this?". The pitch gauge is just one tool to help you find the answer...Would recommend.

I use this tool to measure threads on bolts for my mechanical work. It is a precision tool, easy to use and accurate.

I own multiple thread gauges - some metric, some SAE, some Starrett, some unbranded. This single Mitutoyo gauge has a broad selection of leaves (which will probably accommodate every size I'll ever encounter) and is nicely made.The best feature is that it contains both metric and SAE so I'll always know that I've got exactly what I need when I pick up this single tool.The one I received is made in Japan where the quality and attention to detail is top notch. Finally, I'm a long-term 45+ years Starrett customer, but have been disappointed too many times in recent years by poor quality and workmanship. Starrett is living off a diminishing brand name at this point - very sad.

The "Screw Pitch Gage" is nice, much better than the one that came in the Tap and Die Set. It could be much nicer if it was made from stainless steel so that it wouldn't have to be packed in stinky oil. I like that it has both SAE and Metric sizes.

It is comforting when longstanding brands still make a quality product. It does the job as intended, and I have confidence in the results. I purchased this for use in a machine shop setting, but I will probably purchase more to go in various tool bags.

Quality tool, made in Japan. Nice weight in hand. Cleanly engraved, easy to read measurements. Parts move smoothly. Locking knobs work. Came well oiled.
