If a vendor sends you one that says CHINA on it from this listing, immediately report them to Amazon. This listing is for the Turkish made Angel Chimes (Back History : Flimsy Chinese chimes look the same and were cutting into the profits. The Swedish company moved to Turkey to combat the price, but it is still the same company, same quality).   This listing has been pirated several times by companies selling the cheap knock-off brands. Retail on this item should be about $22-$25 with free shipping, so anything less than $20 is most likely a knock-off. What diameter candles does this one take?

Chime party candles are 1/2" X 4". They will burn for 2-2.5 hours.

what am I missing? the long piece with the hook does not fit the hole in the angel

Their should be three hooked pieces and three angels.   Take the piece with the hook and put the opposite end into the little round hole of the angel.  The hooked end is flat so it doesn't fall out when going around.
