LeapFrog Leapster® Educational Video: Talking Words Factory - For Original Leapster/Leapster 2 systems

We have purchased many of the Leap Frog videos, CDs, and Leapster cartridges. I have found them very beneficial in helping my daughter (2 1/2) learn her letter sounds and CVC words. I thought the Talking Word Factory would be very similar to the Talking Letter Factory, but was disappointed. While she can watch the video (we have the video that corresponds to the game) on the Leapster, the games to reinforce the making of words are not very beneficial. The games for the Talking Letters Factory were great and I believe really helped her. It is nice to be able to have an educational "game" to take along, rather than just watching movies on the ipod. I would recommend the cartridge for viewing, but don't expect too much if you are hoping that this will teach your child how to make words.

The videos are not useable except in the Leapfrog Leapster. I did not know that until I received the order! Thanks alot Leapfrog.

My 3 year old is starting to sound out words and spell them - all thanks to this cartridge. I take the lessons he's learned and use them in every day life - this is amazing, I believe my son will be an early reader, and this is giving him an amazing boost.

Great game. Being given as a Christmas gift.

My son has been in speach therapy for 1 1/2 years. He did not start talking till he was 2 1/2. Now a 4 year old, he is as stubborn as I am and wouldn't sing the alphabet song with me, nothing I did could encourage him to learn his letters or his numbers. I stumbled onto this at our base exchange and he loved it. I would let him play with the sample one when we came into the store. I brought my husband to show him how interested he was in the system. So we made the investment. I am amazed. He got this system from Santa for Christmas with the letter factory cartridge and by the beginning of February, he knew all his letters of the alphabet and what sounds they make! He learned the proper way to make the L sound (hard for him)and when I correct him he starts singing the leapster song. He loves this game. I have since (March) purchased the Word factory and he is trying to READ!! He loves the "sticky letters" concept. I can't believe how well these games are made as to hold the attention of a very busy 4 year old! Who is no longer in speach therapy :)

My son received this on his 4th birthday, and plays this game the most of all 6 Leapster cartridges. He plays them games, repeats the words, and then he took it a step farther...He has a fridge phonics, lowercase letters, and a word whammer (that didn't get used until he got this game), and he is constantly going into the kitchen to spell the words that he learned from this game and then he writes them on a dry erase board. He does the same thing in the tub with foam letters and bath crayons.It is a great game for pre-reading skills and makes learning to read basic words fun. He actually recognizes words from this game to words in all sorts of printed material.As for the durability...my son accidently put it in the kitchen sink full of water. We let the game dry out for a few days, and when we put it in the leapster it still worked...no damage to the leapster nor the game.

This is absolutely the best leapster cartridge! It includes a video about putting words together that my 4 year old son watches over and over and sings along with. There are also many word games that are easy enough for my son but will also challenge him as he learns more! Great product!

I started my 3 1/2 year son (then 1 1/2) with the Leap Frog 5 DVD pack. He loves them. They are a great tool for learning letter, sounds and begining in reading. The Leapster 2 he got for his 3 birthday. It's great because he can take it EVERYWHERE. The games help much more than just watching TV. The older games are hard to find, but well worth it.Enjoy this beautiful age.

The game is good but there is a lot of video and only two games to make words which may become too easy for older children.
