This stuff is really great. I would experiment with just doing one coat as I have found this to be plenty, especially if you have applied it liberally. It smells pretty bad when you're putting it on, but it really does the trick, and adds a bit of weight to your project which can also help.

The old rubberized non-slip finish on 2 bath mats was deteriorating, so we purchased the 16 ounce container of this material. We scrubbed off all the old backing and were able to apply 2 coats of the Fiber-lock nonskid backing. The first coat went on quite thick and used about 2/3 of the container. We let it dry overnight. The second coat flowed on more smoothly and used less material. There was very little odor. While the mats do not feel sticky or tacky, they do not slip on our ceramic tile bathroom floor. A good product.

I have four chair pads with a rubberized grip finish over foam. The fabric side is still in good condition, the bottom not so much! I really don’t like throwing things out unless they’re completely worn, so I thought this would be a good repair. I’ve had the pads for four years and with daily use, the rubberized finish has partially cracked and worn off. They have also lost their “grip” and they were sliding around on the wood dining chairs. I previously tried to cut rug grip material to hold them in place, and it worked for about a week and then they started sliding around again. Happy to say that yhis stuff seems to have done the trick! I used a rubberized art painting tool to apply it and it went on perfectly. I was able to seal in the exposed foam also, it was like frosting over a crumbling cake in parts. I let it dry in the sun, where it dried fairly quickly. I might add it to the bottoms of a couple of rugs that I have also, because they also have stopped gripping. I’d say give it a try if you’re at your wits end. I applied it outside, it had almost a musty smel like mushrooms, didn’t bother me. Didn’t smell toxic, as I feared it might. Cleanup was easy, I just wiped the art tool with a paper towel. Update: it’s still holding strong on the seat cushions, still grips like when I first put it on. I might add more to make them more textured and grippy. I did open the jar to use on the backside of a cotton bath mat to make it slip-proof and the remaining product had oxidized so was yellower than when I initially opened the jar. It was still useable, just a bit more yellowed and less liquid. I suppose this is normal. I still recommend it, but maybe do all of your projects in one go if possible.

So far so good, my rug stopped sliding which is good only I wish there was enough for the price you pay. The instruction recommends that you apply 2 coats but there was just enough for one coat. That being said, the one coat has solved the problem so in all it's a very good product. I'm hoping I can get by with it without buying another pot. Will update when the rug gets washed. Update: I've washed my rugs a few times and amazingly the rugs don't slip. I'm very impressed because even with just one coat it's still effective. I highly recommend this product because it works. I've changed my rating from 4 to 5 stars.
