Is this item shipped in pairs or the price is for one single cube?

Shipped two cubes like in this picture in a box. Mine had bracket parts separately and all put into a larger box with the speakers package.

I just upgraded to a 7.1 receiver. How would these sound as the side speakers? I currently will be adding it to my bose system.

I added these to my sony 7.2 receiver. I have for of the as my satellite speakers. I also have a 5.1 bose system and I actually like these better than the bose... Especially for the price. They could be used a your two mains in a very small room but these are an excellent choice. Highs are outstanding with decent mid ranges. Lows? I cant really tell you much about the lows since a use them as satellites accompanies with two subs but I would definitely recommend.

This is not for 2 speakers it is for 1 speaker with a 2 part swivel, right?

You really should have a center channel with these as your front and rear speakers. But they will work as a stereo setup with your sub. Just make sure you configure your reciever to put these speakers as small not large because they cannot play frequencies as low as other larger home theater front and rear speakers.
