It was actually the COMBINATION of Price and Reviews that made my decision for me. Hearing that it was much quieter than other types of percussive massagers AND at this price point was critical to my buying decision. The video review from another customer who actually ran the Vybe on the video with the volume at various power levels was huge for me. If it was just the price, and without the reviews, I wouldn't have bought. Conversely, if it the reviews had said the Vybe was super quiet, but the price point was higher, I'd probably have gone with one of the more well known brands.I bought this mostly for plantar fasciitis in my right foot and tendinitis/RSI in my forearms and hands. It has made a huge difference. For my plantar fasciitis with the big ball attachment, it hurts like a "mutherf..." (in a good way) at the 4-6 setting (there are 9 settings) depending on the day. I've noticed that if I've used it for 15-20 mins before I go to bed, when I wake up and take that first few steps it doesn't hurt anywhere near as much as if I don't use it -- it becomes bearable. This is a huge win for me. At the 8-9 settings using the little metal point, those tight points in the palm of my hand from all the typing I do for work and the "tennis elbow" points on my forearms get immediate relief. And it's relatively quiet -- that means while it's still softer than a conversation across a dinner table in a restaurant, it's not quiet enough that I can watch TV with it going without turning up the volume 3-4 increments to overcome the loudness of the VYBE (when at setting 1-4). Given that I use this at night when my kids are asleep upstairs this is a big difference than what I'm used to. Compare the noise of the VYBE with other percussive massagers I have or have looked at in showroom type stores where I wouldn't even turn the thing on after the kids go to bed because it would wake them up, and VYBE is 2-3x quieter. I can use the VYBE at any speed when my kids are asleep, and I don't worry about it waking them up. I don't try to watch TV at night with the highest speed because I'd have to raise the volume a little too loud to not wake up the kids. I'm focusing so much on the noise level because that seems to be to be the biggest differentiator across brands for non-professional sports muscle recovery. The percussive force and length of stroke on this thing is powerful enough more 90% of people out there just "holding" it at the point you want to massage. For the other 10%, you just press down a little and you'll get A LOT more impact. As to the build quality, it feels very solid without being as heavy as my wired percussive massager from years ago, is well balanced and has a warranty for 12 months. At this price point (I payed 199), if it dies 1 day beyond warranty, for about $18/month I've gotten tremendous relief from excruciating pain -- well worth it.
