Q: Currently when I press the Whistle button on my transformer, my tender creates the whistle sound. Will this still work if I add this car?

announcement comes on with bell button, not whistle. Pushing Bell will trigger announcement and bell, pushing bell again will trigger announcement again, and turn off bell sound.

Q: Will this work with the o gauge set ? I don't understand the o-27 in the title listing. Is that a different train ?

Hello. Yes. This car will work with the O gauge set. Basically, the "O" refers to the size, or scale of the locomotive, cars, track, and accessories of a given train set. The term "gauge" refers to the distance between track rails. O gauge track measures 1.25 inches from outer rail to outer rail. Anything that is O gauge should run fine on O track. In the O gauge model railroad world, the size of curves is designated in terms of diameter (radius in HO scale). Historically, Lionel produced O gauge train sets that could operate in small spaces... very tight curves. O-27 indicates that the item, be it a locomotive or some piece of rolling stock, can handle curves as tight as 27 inches in diameter. Some locomotives and some rolling stock cannot handle such tight curves. I no longer have my polar express set, but if I remember correctly, the curves that come with the set are O-36. That just means that, when assembled, the curved sections will have a 36 inch diameter/18 inch radius. Hope that is helpful.

I have not tried the car yet nor the train. They both will be set up for Christmas decorations. However, the car is the same size as the train set and according to directions with the car, the button to make the train whistle activates the car.
