Extraordinary sound in a beautiful package
McIntosh MXA70This is a little gem of an audio system. It sounds as good as systems many times it size -- though diminutive, it produces quite robust, clean sound. Not to be ignored, it is a very visually pleasing system, with extremely high build quality. My sound source is the optical output of a pretty good Yamaha CD player plunged into the digital input on the McIntosh. I immediately heard nuances in music I'd listened to for years. From J.S. Bach to Krystoff Pederencki, from Thelonious Monk to Duke Ellington the sound has been truly beautiful and rich. It is rather astonishing that so much music can come from such a small system. Now, about the price. Yes, it is a bit pricey -- but superior build quality isn't cheap. Go for it, this is probably the best small stereo one can have. Enjoy! Like the commercial says, "priceless."07/23/2016After owning this system for a few more months, I continue to be amazed by the sound quality of this gem of a stereo. It has sufficient power for room filling sound, as well as delicate reproduction of subtle pieces of music. Make sure to have your speakers sufficiently secured on good stands or a sturdy table or desk. Use the bass boost a bit to get a full response from these really good speakers. I know it's a lot of bucks, but some things are worth it.

The absolute best built mini system on the market in my opinion
Purchased this mini system 4 months ago and after much listening it hasn't dissappointed. What I enjoy most is the flexibility, sound, appearance & portability. At first I thought its output maybe a limiting factor being 50 watts per channel. But connecting it to my subwoofer it has plenty of natural lows and the overal sound is truly amazing. The only thing i see lacking is perhaps a few extra input capability. But it's a real gem and it stands out in built quality. The price is considerable but you get what you pay for. I plan on enjoying it for the rest of my life. It's really a work of functional art and for that reason I'm feeling satisfied.
