Your cat litter could be the problem not the attractant. Try a softer litter that feels better on their paws. If it is soft to touch for you it feel good on their paws. Cats prefer finer granules of litter that is soft. There have been studies and many cats avoid pellet or hard rocky litters.

My cat has started pooping on the litter mat not the box would this help with that?

Some cats have an aversion to certain consistencies of litter, especially if they are declawed. If they are declawed, use the finest consistency of litter you can find. Otherwise, this is inexpensive so it can't hurt to try it. It didn't work for my cats but maybe I didn't use enough. The directions don't tell you an exact amount to use. I'd try more and more each day until your cat uses the box. Keep you litter box clean, too.
