AJA T-TAP Portable Video Output

I highly recommend this for use with Pro Tools. Sync is greatly improved over the Pro Tools video window, and the picture quality is significantly better too. Only drawback is that when beginning playback, it causes a very slight delay before the transport starts moving, but it is very minor. It heats up quite a bit and always runs hot, whenever it's plugged in. So much that it caused the rubber footing to peel off. No big deal as it's lighter than the HDMI cable it's connected to, and doesn't lay flat anyhow. I just hope the high operating temperature does not affect it's longevity.Thunderbolt cable is not included.

Definitely not a turnkey solution. I have bought T-Tap to integrate playback into broadcast HDSDI system after having some bad experience Black MAgic transcoders. Not much different experience, ... I gave up on updating drivers, software and tweaking my macbook pro 15 with dual thunderbolt to feed directly HDSDI switchers - Panasonic 450, For-A 300, etc, and defaulted back to the stand-alone in-line transcoders like Folsom Image Pro or Analog Way, or fed the switcher on their DVI scalable ports. I am sure if you have time or an engineer to optimize the system it will eventually work. I don't so it's sitting in the workbox waiting for an eager soul.

This is exactly what I need to be able to see the output of FCP7 on my laptop. My MacPro tower died with my AJA output card and I was not able to preview my edits on my HD monitor. The AJA T-tap now allows me to view my output through the thunderbolt port out to my HD monitor with an HDMI output. I also am able to use it with my iMac when I use FCPX so I am very happy with this product. Just be sure you download the drivers from the AJA website or it won't work properly.

Awesome product. I use this to send my video from my mac mini to my tv for monitoring. If you use the built in HDMI for the computer, it thinks it is another monitor. When you install the T-Tap, the output of Final Cut X can be sent directly to the monitor via HDMI

Works well. Arrived promptly.I also have the thunderbolt BackMagic Design Mini converter which does the same thing as the AJA T-Tap. it's cheaper. The AJA box is thinner in size and looks nicer but they both do the same thing. I do display calibrations and use the AJA t Tap with SpectraCal's VirtualForce as a virtual display generator.

Very small device, powered by Thunderbolt. I use it to stream video from the time line in Adobe Premier.

Works with both Mac and PC with thunderbolt. Have tested in avid and premiere. Simple but works all the time.

THe item is more than I expected it to be and the price was fantastic. I am glad that I purchased it.

It works well but is a bit expensive for what it does
