Just a fun read!
A simple story, well told. Characters I cared about and a great blend of actual science with "what if" SciFi. And somewhat personal. For my neighbor in the 1980's worked with Frank Drake and Carl Sagan on the SETI project. Jaime's experience in the book is exactly what they were striving for, but not without the same respectful fear of potentially unpleasant outcomes if aliens actually "answered the phone."

Great Children’s Book
My granddaughter loves this author. I bought two different books by this author for Christmas gifts for her. She was reading on Christmas day.

Brilliant!
The Jamie Drake Equation had me hooked from start to finish - it is fantastic.Jamie is a typical boy with a dad with a not-so-typical job, but with a family with who face the struggles that many families face. Jamie’s fight for his dad is heartwarming; the pride he has for his family, combined with the way he helps his sister both brought tears to my eyes when reading. It is definitely a story that will pull at your heart strings, but is also one that will set your thirst for learning more about space off too! This book would be perfect for children who are in KS2, and would work well alongside a topic on space or in relation to PSHE work... but as an adult who was just reading for pleasure, I thoroughly enjoyed it too, so really there are no age limits, or topic limits to it!Absolutely brilliant!

Fantastic book for teaching Space topic to Year 5/6
The Jamie Drake equation is a really exciting and moving account of a boy who has a father as an astronaut. We follow him on an adventure as he tries to discover the source of a strange application that is downloaded onto his phone. The balance of being a normal 11-year-old boy, and being the son of an astronaut is described really effectively by Edge. As a Year 5/6 teacher, I used this book in conjunction with our Space topic, and the children loved it. The storyline gave us the opportunity to produce some wonderful and inspiring Literacy work, and I would recommend this book to any upper KS2 teacher.
