I got what I wanted in this buy! I have the 5D Mark ii and the 5D Mark iii but was ready for the next level and didn't now what that was until the 5D-SR came along. The attraction was the buttons were identical to the Mark III. I loved it had 50 Million pixels and that was the bottom-line! My bonus was the really quiet and fast shutter. Due to the small photo-cites it only does as good in low light as my Mark II...so use my Mark III for low light shots. I've been putting this thing through it's paces and love it! The software menus are different so I'm still making those adjustments.

It's a monster in desguise, the quality of a medium format digital on the versatility of a 5D, dxomark says it's 87/100 I say it's 100/100 I don't care for a do it all camera, if I need to shoot video I use a RED camera, this is an outstanding comercial photographer camera, I don't need to take pictures in the dark, I don't need to make bursts, I need amazing captures on the studio and sometimes natural available modified light, and for that this is amazing.

A fantastic upgrade over my old 5DmkII. Fantastic image quality. Same great user interface. Nice usability improvements (mirror pre-fire, better live view performance etc) Highly recommended for landscape and studio use!

The Canon 5DS R is what I expected...awesome...It is a specialty piece of well suited for the landscape and studio applications.The images this camera produce are absolutely amazing .

Quality detail

This is my go to camera. I have had all of the 5D cameras including the 5D mark4. The low light of the mark 4 is great but in the final analysis I want the absolutely sharpest photos I can get. This camera delivers. It took a while to get used to the slack technique you can get away with when I bought it (coming from the 5D Mark 3) but once you get this camera to instinctive mode (Where you know what it will do and you don't look at the controls anymore doing it) then this camera is head and shoulders better. The new mirrorless Canon is supposed to be really sharp (as in no low pass filter as described by people who to had early trials) vut the 5DS-R is the real deal and cranks out 50.3 Mb photos. The things you can crop down to are amazing. I will shoot thousands of shots on at a time and use 128 or 256Gb CF cards. This is a great set up. I will usually have a carbon fiber travel tripod available s the really important shots benefit from the stability. People rave about my photography. I could get these shots that are better than most other peoples but without a camera that can go that much further than the rest, they wouldn't knock your socks clean off. So my three other 5D (mark 2, 3, & 4) cameras sit around at home when it's time to get down to work. The 5DS-R is my camera of choice. (PS: I have a Sony A7R3 (need native lenses and it is fantastic) and a Phase 1 XF 100MP that is unbelievable.) PPS you are going to want lots of internal, fast hard drive space for processing your photos. And only shoot RAW!
