Is using a fisher space pen refill a simple swap out with no modifications?

There is a little plastic sleeve in the screw on tip of the Zebra. Push it out and you are good to go. I use this pen with Fisher refills everyday. Great pen.

What makes it sooo much better than the original F-701 that justifies Zebra tripling the price on these things?

Zebra Pens released the new 100% metal F-701 in August 2018. The all metal pen is still designated as the F-701 in the USA. The F-xMD is an import and costs more

Why is this pen $10 more than the F-701?

It is all metal for food service industry and can be sanitized. The 701 has some plastic components.

I bought the 701 thinking it was going to be very durable. I dropped it on the concrete floor at work and it won't retract. Is this pen more durable?

The pen is all stainless-steel, the only plastic parts is the Click mechanism. I'm not sure how much more durable that part is in the pen, but it is almost the exact same as the 701.
