Rugged and it just plain works
Rugged and it just plain works. That’s why you’ll see this same model on most every teacher’s desk and secretary’s desk. No frills, it just works.

The product has changed but the quality is still there.
Recently I had made two separate orders for this stapler in Steel Grey, the first time I got an older version of the stapler, and recently, the second time I ordered this product, I got the new version.Between the old design and new design not a whole lot has changed in terms of quality. Both have a metal build with a metal cap and die-cast base. The only plastic used is in the hinge, although it's only a plastic spacer, all of the moving components and stress points are made out of metal, so both staplers are very resilient. Both feature a synthetic rubber base which prevents the product from slipping when in use, and both can staple 20 pages without any problemThe only differences I noticed are:The new version of the stapler no longer has a plastic cap that sits on top of the stapler's cap, instead it has a plastic cap that is flush with the rest of the stapler's body. The new version weighs 350g as opposed to the old version which weighs 360g.The new version doesn't have as stiff of a stapling mechanism. The old design would require more force to staple and would make a fairly nice "spring" noise when you use it. I prefer the older mechanism over the updated one since I enjoy the stiffer feeling, but for those who found older versions of the stapler difficult to use, this new one is a good option.Overall I would still say that this product is the best stapler you can buy, however it is upsetting to see the old, iconic, Swingline stapler design be phased out. However, with inflation I understand why they did this. The old version of the stapler was quite expensive (ranging from $35 CAD sometimes all the way up to $50 CAD) and the cost reductions made still retain the stapler's general quality.I'd recommend this product.
