EPS/WHO/CRN/GOED Certified, no fish indigestion
Here is the description from the manufacturer's website; you want to focus on the fact that their products adhere to the European Pharmacopoeia Standard (EPS), The World Health Organization (WHO), The Council For Responsible Nutrition (CRN), and The Global Organization for EPA and DHA Omega 3 (GOED).Personally, they are the best I have tried in regards to softening my hair and reducing dry skin, in addition to having no indigestion that tastes like fish. Great choice!THE EKLUND DIFFERENCEWe believe that good health is precious, and that excellent health makes all things possible. Because of this, quality control is our top priority at Eklund. In no area is this more important than in our line of Omega 3 products.Fish oil supplements are among the most widely used supplements in the United States. Because there is no uniform government standard for fish oil purity, the quality of these supplements can vary. Eklund monitors every step of our supply chain to ensure that only the purest, freshest, and safest fish oil reaches our customers.UNSURPASSED PURITYWe test each and every batch of fish oil leaving our facility in Norway for over 254 contaminants including 220 pesticides, 6 heavy metals, 7 marker PCB's, 15 dioxins and furans, and 12 dioxin like PCB's. Many of our competitors test far less, testing only a few times per year for a limited number of contaminants.Every batch of fish oil we produce is fully traceable according to pharmaceutical industry protocols, which are far stricter than standard protocols in the supplements industry. Our facility in Brattvaag, Norway is one of only two pharmaceutical drug licensed facilities in the world serving the supplements market.Eklund adheres to and exceeds standards for purity set by the worlds leading health authorities, including the European Pharmacopoeia Standard (EPS), The World Health Organization (WHO), The Council For Responsible Nutrition (CRN), The Global Organization for EPA and DHA Omega 3 (GOED), as well as the standards set by California's Proposition 65. We exceed GOED's voluntary monograph for purity by a minimum of 75%.OUR PROCESSEklund Omega 3 products are purified using a patented Triple Molecular Distillation process that removes potential environmental toxins and saturated fats while leaving the beneficial Omega 3 components intact.Processing takes place in an oxygen free, nitrogen environment, which prevents oxidation and the formation of free radicals which are harmful to human health. Following distillation we restore the oil to its Natural Triglyceride form, which is better absorbed and more easily digested than the Ethyl Ester Form sold by the majority of our competitors.THE IMPORTANCE OF FRESHNESSFreshness may be the single most important factor when assessing fish oil quality. Fish oil that has oxidized or is rancid not only tastes bad, it is harmful to human health, due to the presence of free radicals and degraded Omega 3 content.Eklund preserves fish oil freshness through our oxygen free processing and proprietary anti-oxidant blend consisting of Rosemary Extract, Ascorbyl Palmitate (fat soluble vitamin C), and mixed tocopherols (Vitamin E).We test each and every batch for levels of Peroxide and Anisidine, which are indicators of oxidation. We adhere to and exceed European Pharmacopoeia Standards for Peroxide levels, ensuring that Eklund Omega 3 products are among the freshest available anywhere.SUSTAINABLY SOURCEDWith a vested interest in maintaining a sustainable supply of fish, Eklund follows the fish species recommendations of the Environmental Defense Fund and Natural Resource Defense Council. We produce our fish oil from wild Anchovies and Sardines from the South Pacific Ocean off the coast of Peru. The Peruvian Fishery is consistently ranked as one of the worlds most sustainable fishing grounds, and in 2008 the Peruvian Fishery was ranked the worlds most sustainable. We consider only the top 5% of raw materials available, selecting fish that are naturally low in environmental toxins, while high in beneficial Omega 3 Fatty Acids. We never use farmed fish, and can trace the source of every batch of fish oil we produce.SUPERIOR TRIGLYCERIDE FORMEklund Omega 3 products are always in produced in the Superior Triglyceride Form, which is the form of Omega 3 that occurs in nature. When you consume fatty fish such as Salmon, Anchovies, Sardines, or Trout, you are consuming fish oil in its Natural Triglyceride form, which has been in the human diet for thousands, if not millions of years. In contrast, the large majority of fish oil consumed in supplements today is in the Ethyl Ester Form, a synthetic compound which has been in the human diet for around 18 years.Clinical Studies indicate that Triglyceride Form fish oil absorbs up to 70% better than Ethyl Ester products, resulting in higher plasma levels of the Omega 3 components EPA and DHA. Moreover, Ethyl Ester products are less stable and oxidize more easily than Triglyceride Form Omega 3, resulting in higher levels of free radicals and peroxides. Finally, Ethyl Ester fish oil products produce Ethanol during digestion, and may therefore be unsuitable for consumers with sensitivities to alcohol. For these reasons Eklund is committed to providing 100% of our Omega 3 products in the Triglyceride Form, which according to numerous clinical studies provides superior stability, bio-availablity, and absorption.

Sometimes leaves a chemical aftertaste
After running out of the cheaper Kirkland brand, I figured I'd explore a little and try something a little more expensive. This is fish oil (plus the other stuff), so naturally I'm not noticing any difference between this and the others, in terms of health effects. The difference I notice is that instead of the occasional fish-tastic burp, I get a chemical-lemony toxic burp which I find more displeasing. For a product that I have no way to measure its effects reasonably, I can only give it 4 stars max. For the toxic burp, I knock off a star...everything about the product is supposed to be "natural", but that aftertaste is absolutely unnatural. According to Amazon, 3/5 stars means "It's OK". And that's about it.

So far a very satisfying product!
The delivery went smooth and I received the product within a couple of daysI have been taken the capsules for about 2 weeks now, but been inconsistent about taking three a day (as suggested) as I do eat a larger portion of fish on a regular basisI keep the capsules refrigerated, but went on a 3-day trip where a handful of them just store inside some foil in my suitcase. The capsules seemed to stay fresh without any discoloring or odor occurring which I was very pleased to seeIt still a little early to make any finale conclusion, but so far I am happy with the product and would potentially buy it againThe regurgitation sensation that many experience with fish oil seems minimal and with very little taste and I feel that my cravings for something fatty is being satisfied, even though I have a fairly active lifestyle as usually need to make sure to add plenty of (essential) fats to my diet

This stuff is junk. Twice the ingredients in other cheaper products. I definitely paid for a label
Don't buy it.. I should have looked at the dosage of DHA EPA and OMEGA before purchasing this.. Your paying a higher price for citrus burps and a pretty label with half the dosage of what you want. Cheaper WAY more effective products out there. Mav nutrition fish oils are cheaper and 100% worth the fish burps because their product actually works.

Didn't live up to the "no fish burp" reviews for me
Bought these because they're supposed to be higher quality grade fish oil derived from small fish (so less mercury), and after reading reviews it sounded like they didn't cause as much of the "fish burp" after effects. That hasn't been true for me and in fact the after effects have been worse than other fish oil I've taken (except maybe the cheap, bulk Costco ones I tried once - big mistake). I'll keep looking for a regular fish oil capsule I like...

Great product, great price - awesome results!
After reoccurring eye problems, my Ophthalmologist strongly recommended for me to talk a fish oil supplement. The Dr. provided a sample of a different brand and how to order it from the manufacture. The cost of the product was very expensive (over twice a much as Eklund) but worse than that was a persistent "fish burp" regardless when or how the supplement was taken (morning vs night, before meal vs after meal etc). In researching fish oil supplements, I discovered how important a Triglyceride form is and the additional cost associated manufacturing it.I have been more than pleased with this product for several reasons; no fish burps, source for oil, price but most of all, the relief it has provided for my acute eye condition that I have had for several years. I am very pleased to provide feedback, hopefully it will be helpful for other people in their selection of fish oil.
