Enjoyable writing style
I did enjoy this book but it wasn't by any means perfect. Someone whose reviews I follow on GoodReads said that this book was pretty much like the author had decided to re-write Twilight. The thing is, some parts were too familiar: a new girl in a small town, inexplicable group of people that are ostracised by 'normal' people, hot/cold male lead, and the girl always seeming to find herself in perilous situations that could have easily been avoided or foreseen. What carries this book for me is the dialogue. It's snappy and sharp. And whilst I didn't always like Daemon, the chemistry between him and Katy is brilliant. And I loved his sister, Dee, too. And I liked Katy's other friends, even if there wasn't much development of them. What I also like is that Katy is essentially one of us. A blogger. An avid reader. And she is relatable and in that respect, likeable. This was a fun read and I'm already onto the next.

WOW! THIS BOOK IS ALIEN HOT!
Obsidian is about a 17 year old Katy Swartz who just moved to West Virginia before her senior year. She resigned herself to boredness and thick accents. Until Katy spotted the smoking hot neighbor, with his looming height and eerie green eyes. She thought things were looking up. Unfortunately for Katy, he opened his mouth. Daemon is infuriating, arrogant and stab - worthy. They don't really get along as smoothly as Katy thought they would. In fact, they don't get along at all. But when Katy is attacked by a complete stranger and Daemon is the one that comes to her rescue things slightly change. How did he save her? He literally freezes time with a wave of his hand. Then... something unexpected happens. The hottie, which is an alien living next door, marked Katy. Yep, that's right. Turns out that Daemon and his beautiful looking sister have a galaxy of enemies that are hunting them down. Trying to steal there abilities and powers. Daemons touch has Katy lit up like a Vegas Strip. The only way she is getting out of this alive is by sticking close to Daemon until her alien majo fades. That is, if she won't kill him in the process. This book has been recommended for me from so many people. Finally i have decided to pick it up, since everyone was reading and drooling over how good it is. And i have to say, i'm not surprised. Obsidian IS a book to be drooling over with.' His jaw grazed my cheek and then his lips followed. They were quick touches, all accidental, but i found it hard to breath nonetheless.'The characters were all amazing, realistic and you could easily fall in love with them. The description was fantastic. I pictured Daemon a bit more differently than from the cover, but believe me - he still looked smoking hot. Katy and Daemon were so freaking hilarious together. And the beginning, holy hell, i could not stop laughing! The romance isn't rushed, the storyline is original, and the entire novel itself is just brilliant. I loved that the most. Katy was such a brave and strong character. Daemon was kinda like a bad boy, he was sweet but sometimes he knew how to really irritate people and push them away. He was different in many ways. His and his sisters life was tough, but it was there sibling love that kept them pushing and moving on. I totally adored the way Daemon cared for his sister. The scenes between Katy and Daemon were sometimes so freaking hot and romantic, i had to drink cold water to cool down. This is probably one of my favorite scenes between them -'Daemon kissed me. There wasn't a moment of hesitation. His mouth was on mine, and i stopped breathing. He shuddered and there was a sound from the back of his throat, half growl, half moan. Little shivers of pleasure and panic shot through me as he deepened the kiss, parting lips. I stopped thinking. I pushed of the wall, sealing the tiny space between us, pressing against him, digging my fingers into his hair'.(It gets better and better). The ending was full of action and adrenaline. It had me on the edge of my seat. I was literally turning the pages so darn fast, and still i couldn't get enough.Obsidian isn't a book to miss, you have to have it. It's such an emotional ride. Read the first page, you will fall in love with it and won't be able to stop turning the pages. :)

Obsidian
The first book in the Lux novels and it really sets the scene for a great story. Jennifer Armentrout describes her characters fantastically. One of the things I really loved about this book was although it is written from Kate's point of view at the end of the story Jennifer re-writes 3 of the most important parts of the story from Daemons point of view and it turns part of your understanding of the characters actions on their heads. Read this series I'm sure you will love it :)
