My Very First Book of Motion Paperback – Illustrated, June 21, 2007

First, I like Eric Carle's drawings. The pictures are engaging and easily recognizable. My daughter likes playing with these "my very first. . ." books. The pages are split and the child is supposed to match the animal to the motion. It is a mixture of words and pictures. We look at the pictures together and talk about what we see, size, color and type of animal. My daughter will also play alone with these books. There is so much more that you can do with these books than just match! Entertaining and educational!

This is a fun book for preschoolers. It is more of a matching activity than a read aloud. Despite the board book format, it works better for my preschooler than my toddler. My preschooler can "read" the book on his own, and match each animal to its corresponding movement (with a little help, of course). The artwork is Carle's signature colorful collages, and very appealing. I would recommend this for ages 3 on up.

Book is small but great!

Very cute and informative. Kids and adults seem to enjoy it.

Most "my first..." books are directed to babies and young toddlers. It may be good for an older toddler but the top and bottom pages that turn separately are too tough for my 16 month old.

I love all of Eric Carle's books, including this one! The text and the art is spectacular!

Will be fun for my son when he's a bit older and starts talking. At 4 months old, he's not too interested yet. But he likes looking at the pictures.

Very fun & interacting book.

Como siempre, los libros de Eric Carle son geniales, con hermosas ilustraciones y diseño. Excelentes para cualquier biblioteca personal o para el salón de clase.El vocabulario incluido en éste no es el más sencillo, hasta algunos adultos podrán aprender una o dos palabras nuevas.

Eric carle holds a whole shelf in my son's library. And these learning ones are just brilliantly designed. The size is also perfect for my toddler to carry them everywhere he goes. Love love love the author

Nice little book for toddlers.

Este libro me gusta mucho para trabajar contenido sobre acciones relacionadas con animales, un tema muy recurrente en educación infantil. Lo compré por eso, porque me pareció que podría ser bueno para trabajarlo de manera dinámica y ha cumplido mis expectativas. La parte de lectura se puede trabajar más adelante para fomentar la lectura a través del juego para relacionar la imagen con la palabra que corresponde.

まだ物語を楽しむ前の段階の赤ちゃんの読み聞かせに。しっかりしたボードブックです。ページが真ん中で切れていて、上半分はエリック・カールの美しい生き物たちが1ページに１ぴき(１羽)ずつ。下半分は上のページに描いてある動物のどれかにあてはまるような動詞が書いてあります。上下でページをめくって絵と言葉が一致するようにして遊びますが絵がきれいなので最初はただ絵を見て楽しんでもいいと思います。赤ちゃん用なんですが英語が決して得意とは言えない私にはこの動詞が意外に手ごわかったです。例えば青虫(caterpiller)の絵は多分crawl(這う)と一致なのだと思うのですが辞書ではcrawlはへびや虫などが這うとあって蛇の絵もあるんです。でも蛇はslideかな・・。みたいな。雄鶏(rooster)がstrut(尾を立て誇らしげに動く)とか。勉強になりました。でもそんなこと抜きで、ともかく絵が美しく、丈夫な本で本棚で飾っていても嬉しくなる本です。
