Never going back to a chemical process
I have light brown with discrete blond highlights. Recently determined that the quality of my hair needs to be significantly improved. I never colored my hair for fun- only to cover my grey hair. Started using L'Oreal and Wella in my 40's i.e. the top quality products on the market and only in beauty salons. Thousands of dollars later my hair is now looking brittle and dry and the prognosis as I look at my mother's dull, brittle hair who has done the same is that it's only going to get worse. It's been almost a month since my hairdresser last colored my hair with Majirel by L'Oreal using a formula of half 7.0 and half 7.35. About 6 months ago he added blond highlights using Alfapar but that has grown out significantly. My hairdresser keeps asking me when are we going to add highlights again but overall I'm finding myself already too blond and ends look brittle, overall my hair looks dull. First thought - why not just use chemical coloring that I can buy at any supermarket? It's less expensive, far more convenient than having to sit at the hair salon for hours and the ladies on the boxes look like they've got lovely shiny locks. My neighbor is in her early 40's and looks great after using Revlon ColorSilk 50. Upon further reflection, the reason the simple supermarket bought color works for my neighbor is that she's 40 and the chemicals in the hair color haven't had time to ruin her hair - yet. There's no way the supermarket box of color is going to damage her hair less than the carefully applied top quality stuff they put on my hair at the salon - right? How about Henna? Indian and Persian women have been using henna for centuries with shiny healthy results. Don't want my hair to turn red. Henna is a true commitment as you can really damage your hair if you go back to chemical coloring soon after you've used henna. So I'd better be sure this is going to turn out well - in my mind the stakes are high. I read that you can keep adding henna and other plant colors over each other without causing any damage whatsoever. It's actually good for your hair. Added water so that it became same consistency as cake batter. 10:00 am Put vaseline around face, neck & ears. Applied paste to hair, covered with saran wrap and warm hat. left on 4 hours rinsed out with conditioner. Put some vinegar in cold water for the last rinse. Result: Amazing condition and shine, split ends disappeared, very soft but a bit too red in temple and crown. Let all of this oxidize on my hair for a couple of days. I was still able to go out Sunday for brunch and didn't look too bad. Quality of my hair is nicer than it's been in 20 years. Day 4 (Monday) 3:00 pm Objective: To tone down the red I mixed up a paste with warm boiled water of Henna Maiden LIVELY LIGHT BROWN Hair Color: 100% Natural & Chemical Free; Put vaseline around face, neck & ears. Applied paste to hair, covered with cellophane wrap and warm hat. Left it on 3 hours, rinsed out with conditioner. Put some vinegar in cold water for the last rinse. Result: Color turned out VERY dark brown :( I should have perhaps kept it on for only 1 hour as I was applying it to already henna's hair. Quality of hair is lovely. Am able to let hair dry on its own without blower and it stays with a nice curl looking thick. Procedure 3 weeks later Dec 9th Objective: To retouch growth of 1/2" white roots Should have shampooed before - but forgot Applied vaseline around face ears and neck. Used 1/2 packet Henna Maiden LIVELY LIGHT BROWN Hair Color with 1 tsp amla powder for curls and condition adding a few drops of orange essence for more pleasant odor. Reapplied mixture on roots spreading to rest of hair Put cellophane around head topped with shower cap and left on for 1 hour. Rinsed with warm water and lots of conditioner. Final cold water rinse with a bit of vinegar. Result: Roots slightly lighter and reddish when wet. Blew hair dry. Result: Darker brown, less reddish roots and less shine. Blow dry seemed to darken roots immediately. Quality of the hair is much improved in the last month with henna and the natural powders. A bit darker than intended but I'm never going back to a chemical process.

Best product ever
Covers perfectly any gray hair which it was my main concern, Im only 32 but suddenly some white hairs have appeared in small patches from nowhere and mainly were I part my line hair is were they are situated. Over the past 2 years I tried chemical dyes and it didn’t matter if I payed for a professional salon dye $$$$ or a over the counter dye $ what I wanted was just to conceal white hairs but I’t didn’t matter the brand or price point they all failed for me because mostly those white hairs were so resistant they wouldn't colores so I had to retouch every 2 -3 weeks which lead me to dry scalp, regular dandruff even some damaged patches for how delicate my scalp is vs how harmful chemicals are. This henna did a wonderful job, mixed it with warm water and some apple vinegar cider until I had a mud consistency then let it sit for a couple of hours; definitely has strong matcha tea odor while applying then after applied noticed the smell changed to a cigar-nicotine like smell but manageable. Left the mix about 3 hours and then I took a regular shower to rinse the product, used only conditioner and then just towel/air dry (Beware use a dark towel to prevent stains or an old towel). Then let 3 days to fully develop into a rich natural red tone, then took my regular showers and a couple days after still noticed some bleeding from the natural dye on my shower but the hair never faded or washed away; today is my third week after I applied the henna and my hair never looked or feel this healthy before. My hair have remain the same rich red tone, grays are completely covered and best of all NO dandruff! Im so grateful for doing my own personal research and coming across this wonderful product, not only has changed my scalp’s health it has also changed my overall texture hair’s for a softer, healthier, shiny hair. Thank you The Henna Guys :) you have changed my hairs life...You have a new life time customer!!!

Excellent product
I bought the henna together with Indigo, after reading around that I would need both to achieve the color of my dark brown hair. I primarily needed both to cover my gray, but since this was my first time using Henna, I did an all-over application just to see how it came up. I mixed all 200g gram of them, and with my chin length hair, I had a lot of leftover. Note to self: next time use 1/2 a packet instead. Luckily you can freeze leftover henna in the freezer so I ziplocked the leftover henna mix and stuffed it in the freezer. The good news is, since the leftover is already mixed, I don't have to wait for the dye to release next time. Anyway, so I mixed the henna with fresh squeezed lime juice and water. The lime juice provides the acidity that henna needs to release its dye (so I've read). You can probably use bottle lime juice, I happened to have some limes in the fridge so I used those instead. I made a mistake of making the mix too runny - like a thin yogurt consistency - and didn't realize the mistake until later. After mixing the henna in a bowl, I covered it with saran wrap and left it on my bathroom counter for almost 24 hours to allow the dye to release. When I opened the bowl 24 hrs later, I could see the reddish dye floating around in the surface, which I quickly mixed in. Then I started applying the mix to my hair, starting from the back to the front. You will need gloves and 2 old towels, one to wipe and the other to cover your hair with later. Once my hair was fully covered with henna, I covered it with saran wrap and then put my shower cap on top. Remember what I said about mixing it too runny? This is the part where things go tricky. Originally, I planned to sleep with the henna on my hair overnight, as has been suggested by many people I read online. But, because I mixed it too thinly, the henna dripped like crazy: at first it was dripping every 5 minutes or so, then as time progressed, I literally had to wipe the drips from my hair continuously every 2-3 seconds or so. I didn't dare go near my bed as I didn't want my bedroom to have henna drips all over. Finally, after wiping non-stop for maybe 70 minutes or so, I decided I had enough. I threw away the saran wrap and jumped into the shower to rinse my hair. I rinsed it first with just warm water, then used conditioner to get rid of the gunk and grits. Then the moment of truth, standing in front of a mirror, I could see a hint of beautiful deep red burgundy highlights on my darker hair, but brash orange on my gray hair, right on top where the hair parted. Yikes!! I knew the chance of this happening was kinda big, given that white hair (my gray is definitely white, not gray) absorbs whatever color you put on them much easily than healthy hair. But it was still a shock to see such orange hair on me. Luckily, I anticipated such happening, that's why I bought Indigo together with Henna, and boy am I glad I did, as I needed that Indigo to correct the orange color from henna. You can read my review on Indigo separately. Bottom line, if you're Asian with dark hair like me, or simply have a lot of white / gray hair to cover, definitely use Henna AND Indigo, either mix them together as a 1-step application, or separately as a 2-step application. I used mine as a 2-step application because I wanted to see how it came out individually. Next time I'll try the 1-step application for experiment. Henna does not lighten my hair, instead, on my healthy hair with natural dark brown color, it gives a nice deep red burgundy coating that is only visible under sun shine. Very subtle and pretty. Also, now that I know that leaving it on for only 70 minutes or so was enough to let the henna color my hair, I don't know if I would leave it on overnight as many have suggested. I think it'll depend on whether I get the mix right. Next time, I would mix it thicker, like mashed potato rather than yogurt consistency. I mixed my indigo on the thick side and it didn't drip at all. One last thing, I read on another review that her hair kept leaking orange days after rinsing. Mine didn't. I washed it very thoroughly, until the water ran clear, and then some more for good measure. I used my old towel to dry my hair immediately after that, then waited for 48 hours before washing it again. On the first wash after that 48 hours, I used my regular towel and didn't see any color leaking on the bathroom floor or the towel. Henna and Indigo are the only two I'll use to cover my gray from now on.

Great product and it was easy to use.
Okay so I used this with other herbs as was recommended by a youtuber. The dye lasts about 4 to 5 weeks. According to your hair type it may take more or less to achieve the color you are looking for. I used coffee in this with a few more herbs to help with my dandruff and strengthening the hair. I loved the color. I now only use it to touch up my roots. Word of caution, use gloves and an old tshirt so it does not mess or stain your hand and clothes.

Best Henna
This is my go-to henna. My hair is naturally strawberry blonde and it slowly became drab as I aged. This henna definitely brought it back to a brighter, deeper, shinier color (wow!). It also lasts for a long time. I love it!

Turned Dark Brown Hair Into Beautiful, Deep Auburn Mane
I did extensive research before deciding to Henna dye my hair for the first time since I was in high school. I remembered back in high school that Henna accentuated all of my red/coppery highlights and also made my hair texture a bit coarser/thicker. In my 30s, my hair has become less coarse and curly (I'm half Puerto Rican). I wanted a change after being stuck in quarantine 4 weeks, so I went for it. I followed the directions inside the package (not the ones on the back of the bag). The package I ordered (200 grams) came with gloves and a shower cap (bazinga! needed these as I was in quarantine and didn't have them readily available). Use the gloves! Use the shower cap! Instead of water, I used fresh brewed coffee (warm) and then let the mixture cure for maybe 1.5 hours. I only left the henna on for just shy of 3 hours because I was afraid my hair would turn bright orange/red (too many internet horror stories). I rinsed my hair copiously with cool water and conditioner for about 10 minutes to get as much henna out as possible. The result? GORGEOUS!!!!!!! My hair had added depth and dimension, especially in the sunlight. Was it more red? Yes. Did the henna accentuate my copper highlights? Yes. Did the Henna turn my gray hairs into copper highlights? For the most part, Yes. But I did not end up with bright orange/red hair, just a very natural looking, subtle warming. My husband commented that my hair looked "more brown," and I think by that he means that the cool tones in my hair (that is naturally very dark brown, with even some blue/black undertones) warmed up to this beautiful dark auburn/brown color. As a note, I have never died my hair, so I didn't have to worry about any uneven color or anything really crazy happening, but I do have a few gray (silver) hairs. As an added bonus, my hair feels softer, thicker, and probably the most unexpected result of the henna -- I have dandruff (I have since I was a child), and the Henna significantly reduced my dandruff. To care for my henna hair I have been using a combo of coconut oil/apple cider vinegar (because...dandruff)as a mask before washing and conditioning my hair with natural shampoo and conditioner (without any of the bad stuff - picked up at health food store). A month later, I am so in love with it, I think I'm going to have to do it again in a few months before my birthday. Just as a note, the henna I used was expired by a few months because I originally purchased this Henna awhile ago and chickened out.

It's Okay
It's okay henna. It smelled super fresh and the color I ended up with is very bright, but I found it didn't cover as well as Henna King. I ended up with a couple small patches that didn't take so I will have to henna again over this weekend which is a bit annoying. Right now the color (which I dyed over a combo of dark hair and highlights) is bright orange. I'm not too worried as I know it will darken over the week, but I still find it's not quite as rich as I would have liked (I adore Henna King's wine color). As typical per other henna treatments, my hair is shiny and feels thick. I used Tazo Passion hibiscus tea (supposed to depend the red), lemon (to activate the henna), coconut oil and a beaten egg (conditioning). I also added a few drops of essential oils to cut down on the strong vegetation odor. I have fine hair that goes down to the middle of my back and could have easily just used 1/3 of the 200g package. I made the mistake of mixing half and had a lot to throw away a lot of it. I found it didn't stick to my skin very much. I put on almond oil on my ears and along my scalp line, but I don't even seem to have any stuck on my scalp—which is unusual. So, if you are okay with a bright shade of henna, want a lot of henna for a less money, and you have high-porous hair, this is a fantastic deal. If you have low porous hair (like mine) and want a darker and/or richer color, try a different brand.

Light brown to deep red. Easy process, quality product
The first image is my hair before using the henna dye for 12 hours. The second image is after I rinsed and dried my hair (day one). The third image is the third day, 72 hours after dying my hair. I washed and conditioned it. You can see how much of a deeper read it is, which is what I wanted. The first few days we're kind of shocking. It was quite coppery, but it has gotten much better. I do have some indigo that I can do a glaze with if I decide I need to tone it down a little. I used one package which was probably more than enough. It was a very simple process. I mixed it with coffee and wrapped it in plastic wrap as I slept. I also blow dried it after rinsing because I read somewhere that he helps the color develop.

Works well for res hair
I am a red head and I used this product. I didn't even have to leave it in for nearly as long as the instructions indicated and my darkened and it got rid of the white hairs. Well worth it if you are an aging redhead that wants to cover some white.

Amazing and soft
This is the best henna I used, it gives a perfect colour and when u wash it it falls off just like the shampoo and doesn’t stick to ur head like other hennas. I’m buying more for sure. My hair is thick and long and the bag was enough to used twice for my hair
