Very Useful for Teaching Letter Concepts
I am going to be a bit of a contrarian here, and go out on a limb and say I'm pretty happy with these. We've had them for two and a half years right now. Some unavoidable truths about these are that they are wood, with a thin magnet on the back, and the colorful letter part is glued on cardstock. Which is a bummer if your kiddo is a chewer. Really, you should never leave a child who chews alone with anything with a magnet on it, period. So while I would prefer it if these were plastic, every brand of plastic alphabet magnets I've seen has a small magnet in it...the kind that if it were chewed out, or if the glue should not work so well and it should fall out, can do a whole lot of damage to intestines. They'd need to eat more then one to do that, but trust me, those kinds of things happen, and more then one small magnet can punch holes in a child's intestines. These magnets, are less likely to be doing that because they are week, flat, thin, and cover the entire thing, making them harder to swallow. So, as the mother of a child who is a serious chewer even headed into his fifth birthday, I prefer these because they don't come with the same kinds of risks plastic letters with smaller, more powerful magnets have. Having said all of that, it's been two and a half years, and the magnets still work. Now, these are items I do not leave on the fridge or alone with my son given he is a chewer, and in terms of their toys, they actually come with a case which has a side for the upper case letters, a side for the lower case letters, and a sliding plastic lid. At least, they did when I purchased that. HUGE fan of that. I am also a huge fan of the fact that they have lower case letters, because many systems do not, and yet, lower case letters are the ones most often used in writing and reading, therefore the most important when it comes to decoding. I love that these are different colors, but not too many to be distracting. Today when I was doing therapy with my son, I started with matching letter cards, and then moved on to "give me the red 'a' " with these. Having colors is very helpful in using these to teach kiddos with special needs or intellectual disabilities, both of which apply to my little man. And because they are magnets, I can be the queen of the multi-task with them, because how that went down today is he would request to play tickles on his computer, I would chase him, tickle his ribs, then put the red 'a' and yellow 'n' on the metal gate at the top of the stairs and say "give me..." Yah, so for me, I love these and find them a very useful, multifunctional teaching tool. They are cool part of my plan for helping my little man learn how to read and I'm happy with them. But definitely not one you should leave alone with your kiddos where they can chew on them. And perhaps having them wash their hands afterwards wouldn't hurt either, given that older versions may have contained some lead. So do Christmas lights for that matter, and I imagine most parents don't think a thing about letting their kids near those. So my advice would be, watch your kiddos, don't let them chew on these, and wash their hands afterwards, and these are a great teaching resource.

Perfect for little hands!
I bought this for my 5 year old who is entering kindergarten this year. I wanted something tactile, magnetic, but that also featured both uppercase and lowercase letters. These alphabet magnets are exactly what I was looking for. I love that the upper and lower letters are color coordinated. They are sturdy wood, yet lightweight. My kiddo had a lot of fun "playing" with these while also learning the names and sounds of the letters. I plan to even use these for my 4th grader to help him with his spelling homework. Definitely recommend!

Melissa and Doug Quality!
As a SAHM, I'm always looking for educational yet fun ways to keep my little one engaged, and these alphabet magnets tick all the right boxes. First things first, the quality is just what you'd expect from Melissa & Doug. The wood is sturdy and smooth, no splinters or chipping paint here despite the rigorous "toddler testing" theyโve gone through. The magnets are strong enough to stick to our fridge without constantly sliding down, which is a relief because no one likes to play pick-up-the-letters ten times a day. Plus they arenโt the cheap foam letters we all end up regretting trying at some point (parents know..) The colors are bright and cheerful, catching my kiddo's eye and making them more appealing as playtime fodder. Each letter is a good size for tiny hands to grasp and manipulate, which is great for their fine motor skills. Plus, sorting them by color or lining them up to form simple words makes for great open ended learning and play. Overall- itโs a great buy and your kids will be able to utilize them for years..itโs a no-brainer in my book.

Awesome learning toy, can be used for 2 and under crowd ONLY IF 100% supervised...
Our 1-year-old enjoys these! Yes, they are definitely made for kids older than him and we do not ever let him play with these magnets without a parent sitting right next to him, as several of the letters - especially the lowercase i and o - are so small that they would present major choking hazards. But if your purchasing these to play WITH your kid, and are willing to sit with your child to play and put them away when playtime is finished... these are a fantastic toy. All little ones love magnets, right? Our son is definitely fascinated with them! And while we could buy him any old magnets, my wife wanted to start him with letters since it's never too early to practice words. We originally got them for refrigerator play and while we still enjoy that, our stainless steel fridge limits us to a very small sliver of space on each of the sides, we got him a small magnetic easel that works so much better. Our son gets so excited when he sees Mom or Dad take the magnet box down from on top of the refrigerator. We open the box and sit on his side and while he's 16-months and still enjoys placing the magnets on and off the board, we also like to mix it up and spell out words, identify letters and colors, etc. He'll pay attention to those parts enough as any tot his age could and will occasionally make the letter sounds back to us which is very exciting. So while I'm sure they're great for the safety-approved 3+ crowd, I truly think it's worthwhile to get educational magnets like these for 2-and-unders, provided they're to be used with an adult only. Of course that's not always possible for everyone so if that's not what you're looking for, definitely pass on these for now and find larger, safe magnets for your young one to play with independently. But if you happen to have the time and ability, it's so much fun to get to be your little toddler's first teacher and see him/her having a blast with letters, words, colors -- LEARNING.

Toddler approved
My toddler absolutely loves these magnets and plays with them all the time. Theyโve really helped her learn her letters and start to distinguish uppercase and lowercase.

Great product all around with strong magnet shaping entire letter
Great magnet all around the back, not just a dot. Wooden which is great so it doesnโt get broken fast. Coating is paper so babies may chew the paper off but the wood will remain. Not difficult to use. Decent letter size.

Fun and colorful, but paint doesnโt hold up
I bought this 52-piece wooden uppercase and lowercase alphabet set, and overall itโs a fun learning tool. The colors are bright and engaging, and I like that the letters are made from wood instead of plastic. They stick well to the fridge, which makes them great for everyday use and learning. The only issue Iโve noticed is that the color is already starting to come off after light use. That was a bit disappointing, especially since it didnโt take much for the paint to start wearing. Pros: * Bright, fun colors * Made from wood * Stick well to the fridge Cons: * Paint starts to come off quickly Overall, itโs a nice idea and works well for learning, but I wish the finish was more durable.

Good Quality
The alphabets are well built and the magnets are good. It's good for teaching alphabets to kids who can identify at random and stick in order on fridges, wardrobes etc. The only downside is quality if container which has wood which chips of easily and becomes sharp and may lead to injury

You're going to want two...
These are pretty much perfect - perfect size, great colours, sturdy and tactile to pick up, hold, and place. You get an uppercase and a lowercase of each letter, so you'll probably want to buy two if you're planning on using them to, you know, make words.

Good quality and fast shipping.
Good quality material. It has wood body but hard cardboard paper in the front. I like that it has a full magnet at the back. Good for toddler above 2-3yrs above.. but if you have a child that eats toys, I don't recommend this get the plastic one. I like the storage box it is made of wood with a plastic sliding cover. Very fast shipping I ordered April 6 and arrived Apr. 7 in the morning.
