Q: I think 140 degrees is still lips and tongue burning hot, can it be set to a lower temperature like 110 degrees.

I do not set any temperature on mine. If you put in hot liquids it will keep it hot for hours. That it does! Just don't put in anything you think will burn your lips.

Q: How does this work? Not from a tech view I mean get up in the morning and what? what are te steps? Do you need coffee at a higher temp initially

It works like any other mug. You don't have to do anything special. You make your coffee and fill the mug. It will cool down fast so you can drink as soon as possible and don't burn your mouth and it will keep on that temperature longer than regular mugs. For me the temperature is great. For some people who like hotter you can put some hot water first, and then put your coffee.
