Uncle Tom's Story of His Life: An Autobiography of the Rev. Josiah Henson: The True Life Story Behind "Uncle Tom's Cabin"

One of the best literary testimonies of a former slave
This autobiography of former American slave turned Canadian fugitive Josiah Henson excellently uncovers a previously largely undiscovered history of former American slaves rehabilitating themselves under Henson’s masterly protection in slave-free Canada.

Rev. Josiah Henson - A Hero
Growing up I read " Uncle Tom's Cabin. " I cried many tears. Some years back I read the book "Black Like Me" and learned that when people see certain situations they assume things about other people, ie, a person of color found sitting on his doorstep eating a sandwich at 9:00 am must be lazy. When in fact he is a hard worker and works the nightshift. This book by Rev. Josiah Henson deeply moved me. It is a hope of mine that all that are enslaved where ever they are will one day know freedom.FREEDOM is a powerful thing.

I was enlightened and enjoyed reading the true story and understanding the truth about “Uncle Tom.”
I’ve heard the name but didn’t know the truth. I started reading “Uncle Tom’s Cabin” but stumbled across this book and found it more interesting. “Uncle Tom,” I’ve only heard of it being used negativity, and after reading this showed it clarified that being called “Uncle Tom” is really a good thing.

Read and learn!
This is an excellent illustration of the power of God's grace and mercy and transformation of a man to be used for His glory! True history that you won't find taught in schools today. An amazing firsthand account of a journey from slave to freedom!
