What size would you recommend for a female with a ring size 8 1/2?

I have only bought the large as my husband uses them also. We use them to administer a compound medicine in our cat's ear. I don't have a problem using the large. I'd rather them be a little big than to tight. Hope this helps.

Will these fit comfortably OVER a band aid for extra germ protection?

I've been buying Grafco Latex Finger Cots for a long time. I have what I would consider normal fingers, but I get the extra large because sometimes there is variance in the large size - some boxes sometimes seem to be a medium. If you want to be sure it will go over a band aid, I'd get the XL. Unless it's for a child.

Does tape stick to them or will it tear them

I think it will tear them if you use tape on them

What size finger is the large size intended for? I need these for my thumbs, which are 2" around the nail.

The large will likely fit, my thumb is about 2 and a quarter around and they fit around that with a little stretching. It's a little tight at the base, so if you don't like that, go up a size. The large works perfectly for me, I use them for better grip on my needle when I'm hand quilting or embroidering.

latex finger cots

I am allergic to adhesives which means I can't use bandaids and such. So.. I often use these with a little gauze. Works for a short time - You need various sizes. This large size is perfect for thumbs. I also purchased the XL and they are HUGE... maybe for your big toe? The medium works for all my other fingers. You don't want to cut off circulation. They ARE latex in case that's an allergy for you. They are pretty thin so they stand up to heavy use. And they will fill with water if you put the opening edge under water or faucet. They are an ivory color.
