Highly recommend
I use this when feeding elderly or poorly pet rats who need a soft diet. Always seems to go down well and provides plenty of nutrition, comes highly recommended by my vet. Has definitely helped to regain weight in a rat being treated for a pituitary tumour who was struggling to hold solid food in paws. I sometimes add a little watered down savoury or fruity baby food with ingredients suitable for rats to vary the flavour and ensure that they don't get bored. It is important to make sure you mix it correctly and add the correct amount of water so that it is safe to feed and isn't too thick for animals that are struggling to eat, but this is easily done. Pet rats always enjoy it and it has been a literal lifesaver for us.

Rat owners read this!!!!
Bought this for my Rat who had just recently had surgery and had lost a fair bit of weight due to the tumours she had, before she had them removed. This stuff was a lifesaver at not only getting her to gain a bit of weight but actually to take her meds!!! She is one incredibly smart and fussy Rat and she could always tell when I tried to hide medicine in anything and would refuse to take it. I tried mixing her meds with all kinds of things that were recommended. Yoghurt, baby foods, juice, porridge, Nutella. It would only fool her for a second, before she would realise and turn away from it. It was a nightmare getting her to take any meds, until we tried this stuff!! It's like a miracle food. I don't know what they put in it... But it seems to be irresistible to her! We have been able to mix all of her meds with this stuff and she eats it all up, every. single. time. If you have a Rat, or maybe any other animal who is refusing to take their meds, try this stuff!!! It's expensive, but it's worth it if it's the only thing that will make her take her medicine. That being said... After buying 5 bags of this stuff... She then decided she absolutely loved the creamy porridge baby food from Morrisons just as much, for a lovely ยฃ1.30 a pot. ๐คฆโโ๏ธ Oh well! At least it really helped her when she was poorly and recovering from surgery! Now that she's better again, she's choosing to be LESS fussy.

Great emergency care product
This was really easy to mix up and use when I needed it for my sick hamster. It mixed into a nice smooth consistency, making it easy to syringe feed.

If you know what it is, you know how good it is!
You only use this when there's a major problem with your animal. This was required to tube feed a hen for 2 weeks whilst she recovered from EYP. It kept her alive, kept her weight up and she recovered. It's really good stuff and I now keep it in my first aid kit for when I have an emergency. I also put it on subscribe and save. Most times the shelf life is only about 6 months, so I repeat it every 6 months and what I don't use, I discard - but having it there when you need it is really helpful on a critical situation and chickens make their ailments for ages until they can't any longer, so if you observe illness, it's not a 'now' thing, it's something that has got to a stage where they can no longer hide it. This stuff keeps them going when they've stopped eating - which is a classic symptom of illness. If they don't eat directly, get a colostrum feed tube (for lambs or other small mammals) and fed directly. If you've got chickens, there's good guidance on the internet - most importantly: don't over feed, never feed if the crop is full, and feed the tube into the crop until you can feel it in there and MARK the tube with a pen so you know how far to push it down the next times.
