Its made in Japan. Very pleased with it - it will last more than a lifetime.

Q: Anyone confirm this is a single bevel knife?

It is not a true single bevel knife. The back is hollow ground and the front appears to have a single bevel, but is also has a second, smaller bevel that you'd find on any traditional kitchen knife.

The blade is 17 cm long (6.5 inches)

Q: single wedge or double flat edge?

Single wedge. Flat on left side for right hand use. Single piece stainless construction. Gray area on blade is sandblasted to create the illusion of laminated metal. Black part is plastic and pretty much just for looks. So far the unfinished wood is holding the tang nice and tight. I polished the back and put a better edge on and am very pleased with it. A good knife for the price. If you want the real japanese knife experience, get a laminated blade with a core of blue or white steel.
