I love the convenience
The convenience of the smart door with the smart key is absolutely wonderful. We are now able to keep our animals in or out as needed unlike before with a doggie door that does not lock. We now have no more unwanted animals coming into our home. The smart key works great and we have had no problems with it at all. The reason I purchased a second key was because it had hung too low on her collar and she liked to nibble at it. But now we have it higher up and have had no problems since then. The best thing about this doggie door is being able to have multiple smart keys so all your pets are able to use it. One great thing is that when the battery gets low you will see a flashing red light on the smart key so then you know it's time to purchase a Nother battery. The batteries are easy to find on Amazon. I highly recommend this item. We will never go back to just a hole in the wall :-) we now have more security and peace of mind and nothing is better than that.

Wont open doors to Tomorrowland or the Superbowl...But really good at opening doors so your pets can relieve themselves
I attempted to use this key to get into Tomorrowland, it failed me greatly. So I then set my eyes on something more reasonable: getting into the Super Bowl. Also a fail. Turns out the smart key isn't some kind of super key that unlocks all of your dreams, its actually a key you hang around your pets neck that allows them to go in and out of the Petsafe doggy door (sold separately). That it does exceptionally well. While not getting into all of the exotic locales of my choice has been highly disappointing, seeing Crackers excitement every time he runs outside to pee leads me to believe that this key, while not the key to all of your dreams, may indeed be the key to unlocking all of your pet's dreams.

Works great for dogs, the cats can’t get in, and it prevents drafts.
Our previous dog door was easy enough for the cats to get in- they are outside cats! It also let cold air in on windy days. With this unit, only the dogs use it and it prevents drafts. The only problem we have had is one dog lost her collar (the lawnmower found it) and we had to replace collar and the transponder. The dogs learned to use the door quickly. Living in the country, I was always worried about other critters such as possums or skunks getting in- not anymore.

Lets dogs in, keeps critters out
These little batteries are great for our puppies, they last a long time, are affordable and are easy to replace. It'd be great if they were rechargeable but whatever. It's a game changer being able to have a locking doggie door so overall it's well worth it! The batteries swap out pretty easily : )

Better than the alternatives
These little "keys" are okay. You don't have much choice if you like the dog door and we mostly do. We're trying to keep the cat in but somehow he's gotten out the door twice. Both times, he was panicked in the backyard that he couldn't get back in. So that we're still fine tuning. As for these "keys", the battery doesn't come out (at least we've not had any luck) so if the battery dies, you have to buy a replacement key to screw in the bottom with the new battery. So far, the problem has been losing the bottom/battery part! First got the door, a few weeks in I notice the one dog is missing her key. After a long hike of course. Replacement bottom went in (it's like a 45* turn from open position to locked, it's ridiculously tiny for such a necessary part) and we added a dot of superglue to hold it in. This worked for several months until I found her missing her bottom part again. Went to screw in a new bottom and there was a crack in the side. Oops. Whole new key instead with the superglue. As a side note, I found the bottom just today so that's nice, I have another spare. So why do I keep buying them? Because it's better than no door and having to let the dogs in and out as the cat loves the dog door. We live on a busy road and want the cat to stay alive so trying to keep him trapped inside. Suggestion for use: if the dog's collar is small enough, thread it through the hole at the top, use some thread and stitch it up several inches away from the metal tags. Those tags interfere with the signal sometimes. If your dog's collar is too wide to go through, get some heavy duty button thread and stitch it to a similar position. You just have to check it occasionally to make sure the thread hasn't come unstitched.

Neat
Buy a key ring if you dont have a collar that can remove the unmatched other then that not bad. Little large but its fine about the size of a quarter sized ball

This works great!
I love the sensor being on the collar so that my dog has access to the yard at all times. I no longer have to let him in and out. The sensor does not seem to bother him at all. You do need to know that you cannot have tags on the same ring as the sensor as it could keep it from working properly. At first I didn't like this but I put them on the other side of his collar and it is working.

Loud
The unlocking us very loud. The sound really scares one of my two dogs. The battery that came with the door worked for two weeks. But with all that said , it does its job and the neighborhood cats cat not enter.

Quality
Not as good a quality as the originals that I first bought or came with the door. You have to be carful not to over tighten the battery or it will split the casing and the battery then falls out. For the money paid not the best quality especially when it on the collar of a miniature Schnauzer who loves to play rough and tumble with her brother.
