Great for making a mug of perfect coffee, easy to clean
I only drink 1 cup of coffee a day, and I want it to be really good, which most single-serve coffeemakers can't deliver. With this, I buy quality beans, grind them myself, and make 1 great cup of coffee exactly the way I like it. It took me a couple days to get the technique right - insert the filter, wet it, add the grounds, level and wet them, then gently pour over hot water . Two hot-water pours make a full mug of wonderful coffee. The flat wide bottom fits all of my mugs and cups, and the glass and plastic are super easy to wash and drip dry.

Quality device for a good cup of coffee
Good quality, sturdy and expect it to last. Does what it is intended for, making a cup of pour over drip coffee.

Great product when used properly
I am very happy with this product. However, it took a little bit of experimentation to get the full flavor I was looking for. Ideally the manufacturer would include some tips, but they don't so this is what worked for me.First, I get the best flavor if I grind the coffee finer than I would for a Mr. Coffee drip. Second, when the water is hot I start by dribbling several drops onto the grounds. This moistens the grounds AND moistens the filter. You should be able to see the moisture climbing up the sides. Then, after a few minutes I slowly pour the water in at the center. The goal is that you want the grounds to be distributed on the sides of the filter. You're paying for all those folds, use them! As to the amount of coffee it makes, yes the Kalita itself is only so big. I put mine over a pint glass jar. This makes it possible for me to slowly pour in more water until the jar is full - and a pint is two 8 oz servings. If you want your coffee stronger, think about using some more grounds. I'll confess, I often cheat and put in some more water after I have gotten my pint. It's a little weak but works just fine for a later in the day over ice or with milk pick-me up. One thing I really like about this is I get great coffee without a big appliance. I already have an electric hot water pot for when I make tea so this gives me my choice of another beverage while using minimal space.

A bit fragile, but otherwise great pour over coffee dripper
The entire Kalita pour over coffee combo (carafe & dripper) make great coffee, but the dripper seems a bit fragile as it easily broke in a short fall. The carafe did not break in the same fall.

Simple, lightweight, quick pour-through
I don't know why these pour over cones are so expensive - I like to have a few on hand so ~$25 seems like a lot for what they are but nearly all the good ones are in this price category. Having said that, this pour-over is a deal compared to the machines and the Kalita stands out for its simplicity and design. The glass is very lightweight and almost feels like plastic but is very strong. I've banged it against granite a couple times with no issues. With three holes in the bottom, the pour-through is fast, but the brand's fluted filters are necessary to keep everything flowing well. The 185 makes a single 12-16oz mug with a slow pour - if you want more you may want a bigger cone / carafe. I'm new to pouring-over so it takes a little practice to get just the right cup, but it is a lot of fun. Plus, cleanup is fast and easy.

Awesome Cup of Coffee --best single pour-over out there
I ordered two different pour-overs to replace one that broke and had gone up in price. Both had good independent reviews. THIS POUR-OVER PRODUCES THE BEST FLAVOR of any single cup system I have tried. It is as good as Chemex and better for a single cup. This has a 3 hole partially flat bottom. The three hole system holds the water just long enough to bring out the flavor. The other I tried was reverse pyramidal. It was less consistent and the wet cone protruded from the hole, sometimes into the coffee.I use this with standard #4 store drip filters, Melitta or other. Works just fine.

Not durable - glass cracked without obvious impact
I bought this a little over six months ago, and while it made a nice cup of coffee, it has already cracked. And, I know, it's not a news flash that glass can break, you might be wondering if I'm just an idiot who damaged a glass object and is now unfairly leaving a negative review. Sure, that's possible. But it was not dropped, banged, or smashed. It just had a crack in it one day, after about six months of use. For a $25 cone, that's not what I would expect in terms of durability. Also, the plastic collar part did not always stay firmly on the glass cone part. Not a problem in actually making the coffee, but, again, for $25 I'd expect the two pieces to stay together better (did the crack result from jimmying the collar back on? If so, that seems . . . not good). I do still like the wave filters, so I've purchased a stainless steel version of this cone.
