I have been using Maldon Sea Salt Flakes for around two years as my main salt for everyday cooking, finishing dishes, seasoning meat and vegetables, and baking. This larger tub is particularly useful because I use salt regularly and it lasts significantly longer than smaller boxes. The main reason I keep buying Maldon is the texture. The large flakes feel more premium to use than standard table salt or supermarket grinder salt, and they add a noticeable finishing touch to food. The flakes dissolve easily during cooking but also provide a pleasant texture when sprinkled directly onto dishes. Because the crystals are larger, I find it is easier to control the amount I use, although it is still possible to over-salt if you are not careful. The flavour is well-rounded and feels less processed compared with ordinary salt. I use it across a wide range of dishes, and I find it does a particularly good job of bringing out the flavour of ingredients. Although it is often described as a finishing salt, I use it successfully as my everyday cooking salt as well. The larger tub is a practical option for regular users. It offers better convenience than repeatedly buying smaller boxes and means you have a consistent supply available for cooking. I personally transfer some into a salt pig for easier access while cooking, but the tub itself is easy to use and keeps the salt dry and free-flowing. The main downside is still the price. Maldon is more expensive than standard salt, and while I think the quality and cooking experience justify it for someone who enjoys preparing food, it is not essential for achieving good results. Overall, this is a great choice for frequent home cooks who use salt regularly and appreciate the texture, appearance and ease of use of a high-quality flake salt. The larger tub makes more sense than the smaller boxes if you already know you enjoy Maldon and use it often.

I can’t believe I didn’t buy this huge salt tub sooner. I’ve been buying the small box of Maldon salts for years. I wish I would’ve known about this sooner, it’s a way better deal when it comes to cost. The tub is fantastic. It’s sort of a light plastic tub and the lid just reseals so you can take however much out you need to fill your little salt cellar and then put this back in the pantry. The flakes seem much lighter, almost like snowflakes, but I know that just must be my imagination. I have several different kinds of salts that I cook with, but this is my go-to for salads or steaks. The flavor is just spot on, it’s not too strong and it’s noticeable. You don’t need to add a ton in order for it to bring out the flavor of your food. When I’m using salt on salads or steaks- this is my preference over everything else in my cabinet. I also have Pink Himalayan salts, Celtic sea salts, and a few other interesting kinds. In my preference, this is the best salt for bringing out flavor. It doesn’t have the bite like basic table salt does, at all. Highly recommend. I wish it did supply iodine though but that’s very difficult to find insults nowadays because they are all processed somehow. If you do find salt with iodine, they are generally added back in after processing unless you find some salt that is strictly straight from oceans and riverbeds.

Arrived in perfect condition. The bucket is better than the paper box packets, although a lot of the salt crystals are broken. Will purchase again, as we love Maldon salt on our dishes.
