A solid, reliable device, good value
I mounted this on back porch near stairs and keeps working, powerful LED's; a great safety solution. Great value and solid construction. Hardware stores and electronic stores didn't have anything of similar to offer.

Works great!
Excellent and just what I needed. I have a small black dog that I couldn't see outside at night and have previously tried solar lights on the deck railing but some days there was not enough sunlight to power them and they were not very bright. This was easy to install, comes on with a bright light that covers a good area as soon as the dog walks near it. Exactly what I needed. Highly recommended

Easy Install, Great Detection, Good Lighting
The installation for this product was very easy, make sure you have batteries on hand! It is able to detect night from day, so you do not have to worry about draining your batteries over a short period of time. The light distance is effective for porch lighting and walkway lighting, I'm not sure I would recommend these for driveways. As for myself, I've had these up for a couple months underneath my porch and they work fine. The elements do not seem to bother them, but they've never been directly rained on so I cannot vouch for the waterproof claim. These are a God-send for places that lack wiring or installed motion lighting. They light up well and detect very fast (faster than the spotlights wired up around my home).

Batteries, schmatteries.
It does what it should. I have wired it directly to a 5 volt DC power supply 30 feet away, (4.5 volt is fine) using old phone wire, #24 or #26 copper wire. It is a 2 amp power supply. More than one light could be run off that. Solder connections to proper + and - wire springs. The one that has a red wire going to the printed circuit board is the positive one to use. The one with a black wire to the board is negative. Pull the springy wires out a bit with small needle nose pliers before soldering to ease the task. I glued around the small drilled hole in the case where I inserted the phone wire. If the unit is pointing generally downward, it looks to me like will quite watertight. Where you feed the wire in should be on the bottom side when it is in position, to minimize chances of water getting in. Parts that swivel for adjusting aim are somewhat loosely fit. I may add a couple of dabs of rubber glue to ensure it is a little more fixed into position, once I am happy with how I have aimed it. (I did do that.) It nicely lights up 70 square feet of synthetic grass that is the dog's bathroom, and enables me to see what I have to see to keep it cleaned up. It illuminates a larger area than just that. Soft warm white light. Roughly equal to a 25 watt incandescent bulb. It will give the raccoons pause for thought too. This worked first night at minus 8 celsius, which was the problem with the previous brand. It cycled on and off endlessly in the colder weather. I think that the temp was the issue. A few days in, this one is working just fine. Edit: Buying a chinese made device shipping from the US is costly in the end. Mine shipped from Canada, but was in fact the last one.
