Q: Are these large enough and secure enough for use over an aircast walking boot while showering?

No, I do not think they are thick enough for showering, and the elastic at the top is not waterproof. I bought them to wear over a walking cast on rainy days, and they were great for that—disposable too.

Q: Why are the inner plastic slips coverings oily?

The covers I received are not oily. Not sure we are talking about the same product.
