can you use these to highlight

No. They are more crayon like than marker like and leave a fairy thick line.

What's the tip like? How pointed?

Not pointed at all...not for fine detail

Are these washable if in clothes?

The Sparkle Watercolor Gel Crayons are not washable. We add notes to all of our product " Washable" if they are washable. You can always use a stain remover and try to get the stain out before washing.

Are these the same as the Color Splash Watercolor Crayons at Michaels?

They are like gelatos. They are creamy and they are great on embossed cards. They have a sheen and a sparkle.
