Our leather sheaths are hand dyed with two different colors of dye. We had a choice of buying pre-dyed leather or dying by hand. Hand dying won (ahem...) hands down. Each sheath will look unique. You want your shoes to look identical. You want your sheaths to look different. We intentionally dye these by hand with antiquing and a variegated, mottled look. You will see spots in the finish (the finish, not the leather) that look worn from years of care. We make them that way on purpose. After we dye and antique the sheaths, we clear coat them (the smooth surfaces, not the flesh sides) with leather acrylic finish. This adds some shine and helps repel water and stains. Finally, we coat the sheath with Classic brand wax and give each a thorough buffing. Again, this is all by hand. The resulting finish is a low satin sheen that has a deep luster with what appears to be several shades of browns and reds. The wax finish feels and looks fantastic in your hand. The sheath will have a custome look and feel. If you aren't absolutely pleased with how your looks or fits your knife send it back and we will refund or exchange it, your choice.
