Horrible Histories - Groovy Greeks [Region 2] [UK Import]

Just because the audience is young children is no excuse for factual innaccuracy. This short animated film attempts to make the world of the ancient Greeks accessible to children, but succeeds only in creating a decidedly B-grade cartoon with little of any historical value. The few facts given are often not even accurate. Socrates did not committ suicide by swallowing poison to avoid his execution - the poison was the MEANS of execution. The Spartans did not enslave people from Athens, even though they had the opportunity at the end of the Peloponnesian War. For some reason they actually decided not to. I am a teacher and would love it if someone would produce some engaging material for young children about ancient history, but I would not waste my students' time with this slipshod effort.

Better for young children. I made a mistake buying this as I thought it might be similar to the TV series Horrible Histories.
