The anchovies themselves are the run of the mill kind you can purchase in a grocery store. They are plump, they have some bones or "fur" as i like to call it. The salt taste level is actually lower than the canned varieties I have tried. The red peppers give the anchovies a tiny kick in spice level if you eat it straight up. I tried some on a pizza and they tasted like normal run of the mill anchovies. The main reason for 4 stars is that the lid on the jar was not sealed in any way and the label was greasy as well. They are tasty, but over priced. I would consider buying them again if the price were lower.

This bottle was leaking when I opened the shrink wrap. I cannot keep these.
