not bad
i will start with the pros:, this book presents its self very clearly and is easy to understand. it provides a very brief segment detailing how the book is to be used and how to read the music, as well as an illustration of the various scales available on a twelve holed ocarina. after this it jumps into sheet-music like presentation of the songs, no filler. the actual notes are presented as diagrams of a twelve holed ocarina with various holes covered and different spacing for rhythm, so there's no need to learn to read sheet-music.while this doesn't affect the quality of the book, it is important to note that it is printed on what feels like recycled paper, similar to what you might find in a work book.now for the cons: firstly it is smaller than i imagined, only 21.5 x 13.75 cm. (8.5 x 5.5 in.). additionally there are only 20 pages with songs on them, a combination of these two factors results in the graphics being pretty small, readable, but small. additionally, the cover is presented in gray-scale (black and white) as apposed to the one above which is in color (again not a big deal, but worth noting).overall this is a pretty good product if you have an ocarina and some time to kill.

Similar to the Zelda book, which is good and bad
While this book can boast a good amount of songs, many (perhaps even most) of the songs are very incomplete. They tend to only tab out the main, "iconic" parts of the song, rather than the whole song. The Halo theme for example, has the first little choral bit from the original Halo theme, but is missing 100% of the epic orchestral bulk of the song. Some of the songs aren't technically even from video games either (like Pokemon 2000).The other main critique I have is the timing on the notes is complete guesswork. They are generally spaced farther apart for longer notes and shorter for shorter notes. But it is inconsistent and most of the time plain incorrect. If you didn't already know how the song was supposed to sound, following the beats by their visual spacing is impossible and would probably sound terrible. Those complaints aside, if you can get free shipping on this it was almost still worth the purchase just for the 5 or 6 songs I really enjoyed from it. At under five bucks it's not a bad deal, I just wish there was more attention to detail in it. Certainly though it would not be worth double the price if you have to pay more than the book costs in shipping, depending on which seller you purchase it from.

This is an awesome book for starters and mid users alike
This is an awesome book for starters and mid users alike. I'm a beginner and found the tabs to be just what I needed to get started. For the few songs that I wanted to prolong, I was able to figure out the notes quite easily. These are tabs, not sheet music, which is a benefit for most people given most people can't read music. I also like the bredth of the songs included in the book. I started to play my first song easily within the first hour. Quite frankly I have no complaints in regards to the quality and content of the book.

Great for beginners
Like a previous review said, the booklet is so i'm not staring at a computer screen the whole time looking for tabsit's great simple, and has plenty of songs, ranging from all sorts of difficulties.Got it as an add-on so i don't pay 10,00 for shipping, it was well worth the five bucks though.Great classic songs, however there's songs that i've never heard that i had to look up. that is all.

Great Collection, Accessible to Novice
I am loving the songs selected for this collection. "I Won't Forget" from Secret of Mana gets me every time. :') The book has a nice range of upbeat, fast songs to melancholic or solemn, slow songs. Likewise, some songs are easier or harder than others; thus, I can easily play a handful of songs, which keeps me interested and motivated, but I can also be challenged by the more difficult songs, which will help me become a better player. (I am a novice.) Highly recommend if you love video game music!

Disappointing and terrible paper.
While the tabs are technically alright, the quality of the obviously recycled paper it's written on is horrendous. It was not worth the money I paid, this ought to come free with an ocarina or as a reward for spending so much at Songbird. The tabs are good, but you can find these things free online. So paying this much for excerpts of songs is a big disappointment. (Some of the arrangements aren't even complete because of the range limitations of the 12 Hole Ocarina. But in that case the author should have arranged an alternative way of playing the song so it could be played in its entirety.)This would need to be expanded and fleshed out on REAL paper for it to be worth it. But just go on youtube and find a tutorial, this isn't worth it.

It's minimalist and has a good amount of songs
It's exactly what it's described as. It's minimalist and has a good amount of songs. I was hoping for better paper & cover quality, but it's alright for the price.

Easy to follow instructions for beginner in front coverI was expecting sheet music, but songs are in pictograph form, so there is no question about where one's fingers should be when playing. Thanks for transcribing such fun music!!
